OK. I have been jump roping competitively for 7 years, more than half of my life, and i have been very successful at the national and regional events. i have gotten in the top ten in many events with competitors of over 50 people. the problem is, the stress is very hard on me, being that we have 5 and 6 hour practices in a day once a week plus 2 one hour practices each tuesday and thurs. and toward nationals, beginning of just to the 20th, we have about 15 hours a week of practice. and even 8 days in a row of 1,2, and 4 hour practices. so as you would imagine, this takes a toll om me emoittionally and physically. school isnt a challenge for me. but jump rope has taken up most of my time, so i cant participate in all of my friends parties and cousins b days and such. most of the time i rather practice than go to the events, but once in a while i really want to go, but the practice is too important for me to miss. so heres the problem. my mom and dad are both teaming up against me and telling me that i have to quit next year and try something else, which i really dont mind trying something else, mostly becasue there are many other sports i am good at and want to try, but i cant stand the fact that i will not be able to jump rope. it has been more than half of my life and my parents are telling me to s***w it and do something else. it really doesnt make sense. this has brought me to tears-this is how much i care about what i have done and what i want to do. and my friends occasionally make fun of me and call me a pansy, my brother thinks im g*y, and makes fun of me continuously, which is such a pain in my @$*. and it never stops.

could i have some ideas to sway my parents into letting me do it for as long as i feel necessary.

please no mean comments, i get them enough at home

  1. just tell them that you have worked extremely hard and that this is what you want to do. i did karate for a while and the same thing happened to me. show them that you are dedicated to jump roping and that you hope to make it part of your future
