Do you think this is reasonable... childcare pay?

I am going back to work in a few weeks and we have someone within the family temporarily watching our kids... we're going to try to find a person to come to the home to make things easier and were thinking of $150 per week for pay. It would be for a four year old as well as a newborn... the person would care for the newborn all day (three days a week) and the four year old for half a day(same three days during the week)... do you think $50 a day for a full day with a newborn and half day with toddler is appropriate?

  1. That's not bad at all for 2 kids!!!  The cheapest I have found is $125 a week.  h**l my best friend wants to charge me more than that!

  2. I think it's too little.  I have no idea what that is per hour since you don't list how many hours but in my neck of the woods, babysitters get $10 per hour.

  3. I think that is fair. I pay 150.00 at a center for my 4 year old for 5 days a week.

  4. I'm using a lady who babysat me when I was younger...and she charges $80 a week. She's really good with all the kids and teaches them as if she were a preschool teacher and get's them ready for the years to come. I'm thankful for the price that she charges, but ask around your area and see what people are getting paid for babysitting. Good luck!

  5. Day care prices have many factors. Demographics seems to be the biggest one that i have found. I used to pay 125 a week after i moved south 30 miles i now only pay 85 a week. shop around. Talk to other mothers and or fathers in the area see where they take their children and how much they pay.

  6. As a parent with a child in daycare and another on the way, I think it sounds like a very good rate.Good Luck

  7. Personally, as a parent, that sounds about right for what I have paid for putting my kids in daycare.  I guess it just depends on the person/qualifications/etc.  You are doing a great thing for your kids having someone come into your home, it will be easier for your kids to adjust to a child care provider, however, I caution you to make sure and check references!! People are odd these days... Good luck in finding a child care provider.

  8. sounds good enough to me...I am paying $190 for 2 weeks and she goes every day full time (durning the summer not going full time but still goes)

  9. no question, thats enough. i would be paying 190 for full time (5 days a week) for one if i didnt get assistance. and i think for 3 days a week at 150 that seems very fair
