my grandmother is very depressed. i was with her today and she kept making remarks like "everything comes to an end" and even "id be better of dead" "im just waiting for it" and when i was about to leave she told me how she had packed a bag of her belongings incase she is rushed to hospital.

im really worried, i love her so much and i dotn no what to do. she is old, and i mean she has age related illnesses but nothing life threatening or anything, her friend just died and now she has no friends really to be honest and she doesnt leave her flat. do you think a 90 year olf would commit suicide? im freaked out i feel like i need to keep watch on her almost

  1. ok, it may sound very stupid but try this...

give her a hug and tell her how much you love her every ime you see her like this. express your love to her from your heart.

    really, this helps alot.

call her every once in a while, even though you visit her everyday.

really... make her feel like an important part of your life. it will make her feel more important and value her life.

  2. No I do not think it is suicidal talk at all and no I do not think you should feel the need to keep watch over her.

At 90 she is bound to be upset when her friend has just died and she does know that her own time cannot be far away.

Her illnesses or medications might be causing her to be "down". They may also be causing her to seek overmuch attention just now when deep in her heart she knows you have your own life to live.

Try not to worry so much - seeing her now & again will cheer her heart even if she doesn't show it. Best wishes. UK
