Do you think this is true, if you want something done, don't wait on the government to do it?

is it true that if we want progress in this country, we the people have to do it ourselves as waiting for the government to get it done may take years or decades or possibly never?

Ya its true the government wont do it A.S.A.P. . so if they don't do then who will? that's why you have to take action. do it yourself if the government wont do it. its nice to do something if it helps people.

Some things, perhaps, but in the long run it is better to not have a country of divisive individualists going it on their own, but instead to vote for people who restore a country and unity to be proud of again.

That depends on what you want to have done.  Many functions the government performs cannot  simply be done by an individual.  You need to be more specific in what you want done.  

For example, if you wanted the road in front of your house repaved would you go out there and do it yourself?  I don't think so.  If you can do that, come on over to my neighborhood.  We need you. LOL

yes, the constitution even suggests the citizens should be able to excercise an overthrow in the event of an unfit government.

and i personally would go as far as to say voting rendered obsolete by the electoral college. We will eventually need to take matters into our own hands

Well it would be hard to go into Pakistan at this point to go after Bin Laden like Obama wants to.  So I would say that their is two sides to everything.

Yes. Consider while people talk big at The G8 meetings they can do nothing without citizens. Not only that they will only go halway to required goals at The G8. Half Carbon Emissions by 2050 is the goal rather than all. Were citizens to blockade highways if they have not done so or perhaps have a Green Walk along highways. Maybe invite people in colleges to join them and perhaps after that arrange a highway bicycling tour this might help. Borrowing Golf Carts from Golf Courses a start. Also Recycled Community Currency Minted in Recycling Buildings put to use to buy up cars or supply people with bicycles, golf carts,  and fund local railways. Question is where will this money come from well people will make it.
