Do you think this is true about plane crashes?

You know that position that you're supposed to take if there was a crash landing?..hands behind your head, bending down etc....spoke to an air hostess earlier and she said that the only reason they recommend you do this is because you would break your neck immediately and wouldn't have to go through the pain and suffering of the impact of a crash

  1. d**n!! Thanks for that lol...next time i hear brace brace brace...i'll say "No thank you, i'll have five jack daniels and cokes....cheers"

  2. I don't believe that to be true. You always want to protect your head and face in any crash. I don't think I would want to be looking around anyway during a crash landing...

  3. No way is it true.  It's in their interests to have survivors and I can't see how holding your head down with your hands would make you more likely to break your neck - quite the opposite would be true, as it's going to lessen the impact just a little.

  4. Absolutely true.

    Also, you know how they ask you to raise the window blinds as the plane's coming in to land? That's so they can see in to count the burnt corpses without having to crawl into the blackened remains of the fuselage.

    Oh, is it too soon?

    <nods all 'round>

    Too soon.

  5. No!

  6. no way!!!!

  7. edit: i just asked my brother who's an ameature pilot and works for an airline and he said it's a total myth!

  8. Most likely she was having a joke on you. That's nonsense.
