Do you think this kitten's eyes will stay blue?

This is my soon-to-be kitten, Coco. She's just slightly over 4 weeks old right now. I know that all kittens start out with blue eyes, but that sometimes they'll stay blue when they are a lighter shade to begin with. Do you think this kitten's eyes will stay blue? They aren't dark or gray like most are at this age. Thanks!

  1. I think it is unlikely that Coco will have blue eyes for life.  The eyes of tabbies almost always turn green, gold or yellowish.

Coco is darling and hope you two have many years to love and treasure each other.

    Good Luck!

  2. You have to wait to see, but most cat's eyes will change around 6 weeks. Shorthair kittens begin to open their eyes at 5-8 days. Longhair kittens do not open their eyes until 10-14 days. Isn't that strange? So if some of your kittens don't have their eyes open yet, but the others do, it may be because they are longhaired. All kittens' eyes are beautiful deep orbs of blue at first. They will look like this until the kittens are three weeks old. Then the iris and pupil will form and the kitten's permanent eye colors will slowly emerge. At first, although the eyes are open, the kittens are still almost completely blind.

  3. To the best of my knowledge, kittens are born with blue eyes, then they change, if their going to, and now sure at what age. Some breeds have the characteristic of blue eyes, like the Ragdoll.

    Hope this helps :-)

  4. Most likely no. I've heard that cats with blue eyes are deaf. One of mine has one blue and one green, and she can't hear out of the side with the blue eye.

  5. it's possible that Coco might have really dark blue eyes, or green eyes. he;s reallycute!

  6. I really doubt it.  Colorpoint cats always have blue eyes and white cats can have blue eyes (those are often deaf) but I don't think any other cats have blue eyes.

We brought in a stray girl who had a litter and one of the kitten's eyes just changed late and took a long time to completely change.  Even at 10 wks old they still looked a little blue.  But now they're green.  Blue eyes are cute, but so are the green and gold ones.

she's completely adorable, congrats on the upcoming new addition!
