Do you think this plan for charity would work?

Question

I am studing in a university where most of the students come from rich backgrounds. So do you think it's reasonable if I start a campaign/project where I try to get every student to donate 20 cents a day and the money would be sent to charitable organisations? Do you think this would work? If not, why and if you have any ideas please feel free to suggest. Thank you.

P.s : The donation boxes would be placed in the most accessible places in the campus.

You would need a web site and a FaceBook account that shows this is a transparent, credible endeavor, shows the name of the charitable organizations that will benefit from this endeavor, how you will account for the money collected, etc. And you will need permission from the university.

I think it's a fabulous idea but why 20 cents why not let them donate as the see fit or can afford its more than 20 cents? Just a thought.

It can work depending on the charity and the appeal for college students.   Being realistic most will not take 20 cents to drop in a box each day however so you may want to make a weekly goal or even have alternate ways to give.   Here is something that is similar.  The Great $1 Challenge http://caringhandsmin.tripod.com/id14.ht...
