  1. It is more bark then bite. Our family does what we can to conserve energy every day not for a hour on a Saturday.

  2. If the world is really commited then the government should turn off the electricity in all cities. But since they aren't (im guessing) its probably just something for people to feel good about themselves.

  3. Oh Dr. Smith.. you must have already gone to Washington, given the asinine comments you make.  I'm just wondering what kind of DR you are if you think global climate change is a "Scam" as you insinuate.

I think Earth Hour is about saving my children's and grand-children's and great grand-children's home.  Fortunately enough FOR YOU.. I'm saving yours in the process.

  4. No. But I do think Earth Hour is a big waste of time if they only choose a selected number of cities. This is making some people in other cities, even those down here in Columbus, Ohio that they don't have to do it. The website and news reports only gives a certain number of cities that those who started Earth Hour selected. So, this isn't "global". It's "a couple of series". I turned off my lights anyways, and not much are on right now.. and I started too late.. but even if I did it was 8Pm-9pm.. I'll look outside and see bright daylight and the light from my current stupid neighbors who think that leaving the light on in the backyard is.. good. What the h**l is that for?

Anyways, I think that Earth Hour is lame and next year or in the middle of the year or the next time they decide to have another Earth Hour, they better not only choose a certain number of series. This is unhelpful.

  5. "the government "? where do you live? I don't want "the government" having the ability to turn my electricity off. and why just the cities?

If people are really committed they will turn the lights off themselves!

    Free T'bet!

  6. It's a good cause for our home, earth.

I'll do it what the heck. It's only an hour.

  7. No it's to raise awareness. It's not the power saved in that hour that matters so much as letting more folks know the danger we face.

Scam huh? interesting. I think when folks have that view at this point there is not a lot that can be said to help you.

I guess I could run around and say the Earth is flat and it would be hard for you to show me it's not true.

  8. No, claiming that climate change is a scam is a silly conspiracy theory embraced by gullible people who can't tell the difference between a work of creative fiction writing and a peer-reviewed paper published in a credible scientific journal.

  9. You bet I am

  10. The people who are running Earth Hour have already stated that it is a symbolic gesture. They don't expect it to have any effect on the amount of energy used. They do hope that it will show that people are ready for changes to be made that can help the environment.

Also it wont be all lights and certainly not all the power will be turned off. The will turn off as many lights as possible without jeopardizing the safety of the people in the area.

  11. I don't think it's a stunt or a scam, who would gain from it? Personally,  I think it's a statement about each of us as individuals doing one small responsible thing to help conserve energy. I think this would be a good practice for everybody to do daily. What would be really great is if each of the people who turned off their lights for one hour, would light a candle (a clean burning natural one) and actually read a book. What could happen then? A revolution of actual thinking! Wow.

  12. If everyone turned off all their electricity for just a few minutes a day, it would save a lot of energy throughout the world.  However...

My first reaction to this was that if the lights are turned out, wouldn't it give looters a golden opportunity?  Maybe the scam is..."Turn out your lights so you won't see us steal you blind!"

Honestly, I do smell a scam in the air and yet it sounds like a good idea.

  13. Absolutely.  Symbolism over substance.  Man-made global warming is a myth and scam and is certainly not a crisis.  The scientific backlash has already begun.

  14. Really oOgriffo

Just the kind of answer we would expect from the fascist global warming movement. Government imposed blackouts. What would be next jackbooted thugs kicking doors to check to make sure your refrigerator light is not on.

Remember it is lies and deceit that thrive in the darkness no wonder the global warming bunch wants us to turn out the lights
