I'm writing a story about a very beautiful doctor named Jamie who gave birth to her son with a midwife. I want with this story that everybody know that homebirth is SAFE. I don't know why people think that homebirth is dangerous because this affirmation isn't true. In some first world countries like Holland, homebirth is the norm. But in the States, the country of "freedom", why many doctors are trying to ban this kind of delivery. I hope my story will change some minds.

Do you think a story is the best way to promote homebirths?

Thank you very much!!!

  1. i think home births would be so much better at the hospital they pump you full of drugs and pitocin to help with the delivery this is not the natural way i wish my county would allow home births we don't even have a birthing center here so ive always had to have my children at the hospital and i truly believe that if the nurses and doctors wouldn't give me pitocin and even an iv needle the delivery would go so much better i will be having my 5 baby in march and i half kid with my husband that he's seen it done so much that he could help delivery the baby at home lol

  2. Home births are not always safe.  I had a very normal pregnancy with no morning sickness or any other complications but I had a very difficult delivery.  After 56 hours of hard labor I ended up having to have a c-section.  How would that have been safe if I had chosen to have my son at home?

  3. yes it is

  4. I guess I kinda feel if this a  country where a woman has the right to freedom of choice then I also believe she gets to make the choice of where to deliever as well. Back in the day all babies were born in the home.....all of my Grandmothers 6 babies were born at home.  Babies can sadly pass away in both settings....just because it's a hospital doesn't prevent death. I'm torn.....but  I think I sway more to the natural end of things and would deep down choose a midwife.

  5. As a nurse, I do not advocate homebirths. I have seen too many things suddenly go wrong during deliveries at the hospital where they are equipped to deal with such things.

Your story may be a wonderful one, however- most moms are very reluctant to have their babies at home, and rightly so.

  6. My opinion is that they are not safe. Things can go wrong very quickly, and i have to wonder why any soon to be mother would expose her child to any risk when there are safer alternatives.
