Do you think this will raise my GPA

I need 24 credits to graduate high school but I'm planning on having 26. Some of those extra credits will be in science, english, and math. Since I have some extra credits, will that raise my GPA? I'm in Manatee county? Sources?

  1. Yeah, if they're weighted, and if you do good in them.

  2. Yes it will as long as the grades you receive on those extra credit courses are good grades. Since you are adding more classes, the original classes are now worth less towards your gpa. Meaning, if you think the grades on your extra credit classes are going to be lower or about equal to your original 24 credits, I would say drop the classes and worry about the 24. On the other hand, if the grades in your extra courses are good grades, it will definitely raise your GPA.

  3. probobly not.

but dang just be glad that you might pass!

  4. Your GPA is a grade point AVERAGE.

So if you did well in the classes, then it would bring it up.  If you did badly, it would bring it down.

Unless they're weighted, like AP or honors classes where you get extra credit added to your grades because of the difficulty of the class, it's just going to be your grade out of 26 credits instead of 24.

Please tell me you understand averages...I really don't want to explain them.

  5. depends weighted or unweighted

if its weighted then def take some AP classes you get a high school credit along with a college if you pass the test at teh end of teh year

  6. Yes it will, but you will have to get good grades in those classes. It will take a lot of effort.

  7. As long as you get better grades than you had in the past.

  8. I don't believe extra credits raises your GPA(your grades do). But colleges see the extra credits and think you're a hard worker for doing more than necessary. If you can, try taking some college courses(where i live there's a College Now Program that lets high school students take college courses). If you get around 14 college credits, you can graduate one semster early if I remember correctly.

  9. if you have a low gpa and you get a good grade in the extra classes it can help raise you gpa. the best way to raise your gpa would be to get good grades in honors and ap classes (classes with a gpa weighting that is higher than a 4.0)
