Do you think this would be a cute centerpiece for a winter wedding?

I am planning a Dec. 19 wedding. I am trying to keep costs down, and I had an idea that I wanted to get an opinion on. For centerpieces, I was thinking about ditching the mega-bucks flowers, and instead having a three tier buffet piece in the middle with black/white/ailver ornaments on the bottom tier, assorted x-mas cookies on the middle tier, and maybe holly with lights on the top tier. I was then going to have candles on the table as well. Do you think this is a cute idea? If not, what are you're ideas?

  1. I like the idea.

I wouldn't use live holly, though. It can be toxic.

  2. I think that is cute. Then people could take a decoration home for their tree and have a cookie! Or, you could use a small tree as centerpiece and hang the ornament favors on them...

  3. I think it sounds beautiful :-)

Here are some photos I found online that I think would be cheap to make.

You could also do a Mini Candy Buffet Centepiece and you can use Christmas candy or any other you like:

  4. Do you really want an edible centerpiece?  I think you're better off doing candles as a centerpiece and using silk greenery.  You don't even have to do real flowers--silk!

  5. Ive seen white ostrich feathers done before and i was so classy! I liked it so much, I'm using it in my own!

    Google ostrich feather centerpieces.

  6. I think that would be a cute idea. I've seen things done with the three tier buffet service before and it looked really nice. It's all about the way that you arrange things. This looks really elegant: http://images.meredith.com/bhg/images/05...

There are also lots of other things that you can do for Christmas centerpieces. I've seen some pretty simple and inexpensive things done with ornaments that look lovely. I am sure you could find all the supplies at the dollar store. Here are a few pictures to give you some ideas. Maybe you can do different centerpieces.

I hope that this helps! Good luck!

  7. Too busy, too much going on.

I commend you for thinking outside the box, but you have a lot of thing going on at once. Try to do one or two of your idead and not all five at once.

    Good luck

  8. Really cute idea! Exceptional! Almost too good? Who'd you steal it from?

    ...just kidding I like it.

  9. way too much going on there.

classy ornamental balls in a bowl would be lovely.  you could make it your favour to allow the guests to each take one home.

  10. Sounds like a very busy looking centerpiece to me. ANY centerpiece you decide on should not obstruct the guests view of each other, You don't want people trying to look over, around, to the side of your centerpiece to see and talk to each other. I like the idea of clear glass bowls/containers with glass or silver/white ornaments. That, and some simple votive candles to bounce the light off the ornaments would be very pretty and simple (9the ornaments could double as a favor as well if you choose).  Your multi-tiered idea just sound too disjointed and busy to me personally.

  11. See if you can add some ornamental snowflakes. My daughter, married in January, insisted that her wedding cake be decorated with white plastic glittering snowflakes. The woman making the wedding cake agreed very reluctantly, but she did a beautiful job, and afterwards asked permission to use a photograph of the cake in her book of cake styles.
