I am having an outdoor wedding in a park/garden area next summer. I thought i would be neat to have short shepherds hooks with white buckets of yellow and white gerbera daisies lining the bridal aisle. I also wanted my bridesmaids to walk down the aisle picking the flowers out of the buckets to "make their bouquet" also the flower girl who is 7 would walk down the aisle picking these daisies and wait at the end of the aisle and hand them to me as i thank her. What do you think of this? Anything that could possibly go wrong. After the ceremony we will rubber band and tie a ribbon around these for pictures. Let me know what you think of this???

  1. I believe that the sheppards hooks and the flowers are a great idea, but the picking up etc, can become a logistical nightmare and can take too long and may loose people's attention.

    Good luck

  2. I think it's a very cute Idea but it might take a while for each bridesmaid to walk down the aisle.. But if your aisle isn't that long the bouquets might turn out to be very thin and not as full and beautiful as you like. So maybe it would be better if for pictures your made thicker bouquets. Just so your pictures are as beautiful as you invisioned it..

  3. I really like the idea of them lining the aisles and I guess picking flowers out could be cool.  The flower girl though, that could be weird.  Only because you'd get to the front, get your bouquet and then have to turn and give it to your bridesmaid.  There's a few problems I could see...

I think the flowers might not look as nice just picked up as they go without much concern about actually arranging them.  Also, if you need to turn and give your bouquet to someone, you'll be handing a bunch of loose flowers to someone with a bunch already in their hands, that could be tough.

I LOVE gerber daisies though!  My girls had them!  :)

  4. I think it's a unique idea and could be fun if you put a limit on how many flowers they are supposed to "pick" from each bucket.  You don't want one person to pick 5 and one to pick 1 from each bucket or they will look uneven and so will what's left in the buckets.  Just pick a number and make sure they all know the rules, like "pick one from each bucket on your way down the aisle."  And make sure your flower girl is old enough to understand and not pick them all at once lol.

  5. I am sure you do not want your bridesmades to spend the time BENDING OVER to pick up the flowers. Why not have a flower in the chair or each guest on the aisle that they hand to the bridesmaids?

    OR

Why not have each guest bring a flower which is then passed to the inside row and handed to YOU as you pass, making a beautiful eclectic bouquet.

  6. Great idea!  I think it sounds really cute.  I am actually having my bridesmaids carry gerber daisies too.  It may a little too repetative to have all of your girls picking the flowers out of the buckets.  What about just having the flower girl picking the flowers and haveing the other girls already acrrying theirs?  Also, if you do have your bridesmaids picking the flowers, I would make sure the buckets are alteast at hip level, so they do not have to keep bending over in their dresses.

  7. I like the idea of decorating with the buckets of flowers, but I think having the bridesmaids and flower girl picking the flowers out of them as they go down the aisle seems a bit too theatrical and overdone.  I would just have their bouquets already put together before they go down the aisle.

  8. I think it would be cool if it works, and very stressful if you need everything to go perfectly. It could slow the procession down a lot, and it's always risky having little kids doing anything complicated (she may pick one flower, and then hand that to you. She may pick every bucket bare. Or anything inbetween).

I say that if you're up for things hitting a few snags, and the bridesmaids are ok with it then it would be amazing.
