  1. Last week I thought so.This week I not so sure.Gayego could challenge in the Preakness.Casino Drive is a ligament contender in the Belmont.

  2. this is the year...big brown is the boss horse...

  3. This year!  I was sitting front row as they came off the last turn at the Kentucky Derby and I was absolutely amazed with Big Brown.  Amazing race, passed a lot of really great horses and had to go a long way around the track to do so.  Best horse to leave the Derby in years.  Workouts show no damage to horse from Derby.  Lackluster field at Preakness should help.  Biggest threat in my opinion will be a better rested Dennis of Cork at the Belmont.  The longer race suits his style.

  4. no

  5. In my opinion, 100% yes!

  6. As Long as Big Brown stays healthy, i believe so.

Hes got a great Jockey and tons of talent.

I myself believe this will be an equally impressive show by Big Brown.

Gayego has also entered the race, and i feel he will do much better this time.

    JMO...

  7. Big Brown is a good horse - there is no doubting that. He is not Secretariat.

It's a bit of a down year for the TC races IMO - and Big Brown is much the best of a relatively weak group.

I don't know exactly how much is Big Brown's awesomeness and how much is sub-par competition but I do expect to see a TC winner this year.

I have never said that before - and I watch races 40-60 hours of racing a week at a minimum for more than a decade. I get teased about being 'anti-Triple Crown' winners because no horse has really convinced me he is a TC winner.

His closest competition was a filly. Most of that field is going to l**k their wounds and ponder taking him on again with rest as an advantage.

They might decide 'no' on Saturday.

The Belmont will be his real test.

There is a horse named Better Than Honor waiting to complete a Triple of another sort.

Better Than Honor is a broodmare - a female horse used for breeding purposes.

She produces one horse a year - bred to the elite sire's - and the previous two horses she produced prior to Casino Drive are Jazil and Rags to Riches. Our last 2 Belmont winners.

Casino Drive just won the Peter Pan Stakes easily. The Peter Pan is Belmont's local tune-up for horses pointing to the Belmont.

There will also be a handful of Derby also rans waiting on 5 weeks of rest - and another new face or two that could have a say in the outcome.

I'll conceded the Preakness, try to bet against him while not ignoring him in my tri's and super's during the Belmont - but I'm going to be rooting for a TC winner.

The sport really does need it.

The UPS connections might open up more corporate interests for the sport - which would also be good I suppose.

I mean, aren't we all hoping to root for UPS, FedEx, Exxon, AT&T, GE, Sony, Sears, Google and IBM during the Kentucky Derby anyways?

  8. Nobody knows!

  9. Every year I'm rooting for the Derby winner to win the Triple Crown and it never does.  I have just about given up!

  10. I think it is the best chance we've had in a long time to see a Triple Crown winner. Big Brown has done nothing but impress, and that's an understatement. I watched replays of the Florida Derby over and over again because he is the first horse that has reminded me of Secretariat. I hope he does win the Triple Crown, for more than one reason. Larry Jones (trainer) wants Big Brown to win to show how brilliant Eight Belles was.

The only horses in many years that I thought could win the Triple Crown were Afleet Alex (third In the Derby, but won the Preakness and Belmont in dramatic fashion) and Curlin, who also was third in the Derby, won the Preakness, and was beaten in a thrilling stretch drive by the filly Rags To Riches, whom I was screaming for in the stretch because she was a filly racing against a great colt, and despite being a Curlin backer I was delirious with the filly's win! And we all know that Curlin went on to win the Breeder's Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup, and was the 2007 Horse Of The Year.

So I think Big Brown could do it, if he can handle the Pimlico surface (with his bad feet) and the 2 week turn-around.
