Question:

Do you think those packing peanuts should be banned from the earth?

I order alot on line because I'm not able to get out and things come buried in those packing peanuts. I heard they can really hurt animals if they eat them and I'm sure they are not bio-degradable. I'll quit ordering on line.

  1. yes they should be.  try using something else to pack your stuff.

  2. No i Think they really work for ppl that have business. Like me i always use them for packing my items safe and sound. They work great for keeping things safe and very tight in the box. Yes thay can harm pets but alot of other things can harm pets to like collars,Fake Christmas Trees,Tinsle,Plastic Caps and the list go's on and on. So its the person who owns the pet to take responsibility to throw the peanuts out or to hide them that way their pets cat reach them or get into them. I hope i helped you out :-) Merry Christmas!

  3. No need. You can put them under heat and pressure to create biodiesel fuel.

  4. No, I don't think they should be banned (and I'm very anti plastic).

They have a purpose, and serve that purpose well.

You can take them to your local UPS store.  They will take them, and recycle them into new packages going out.  Personally I think that's very cool, and ultra green.  The same peanuts could go around the world many times over.

Also of course they do make 100% biodegradable peanuts.  They are made completely from corn starch.  If they come in contact with water they simply melt, and melt quickly.

If you have an "odd" peanut that is obviously not styrofoam, and looks more like a bunch of small bubbles blown into the general shape of an elbow macarroni noodle try tossing it  your toilet and watching what happens.  They melt way to nothing, very, very fast.

I love those kind of peanuts.

If you are shipping a package and simply cannot bring yourself to use peanuts, you can use air popped popcorn.  Works pretty well, and at the end can be fed to wild birds.

  5. i nvr heard nething about peanuts really being bad so no i dont think they should or will be banned from the earth

  6. I think they should use real peanuts the consumer would get more for his money and help out the poor peanut farmers like Jimmy Carter.

  7. TRY RECYCLING THEM CALL YOUR LOCAL ups STORE THEY TAKE THEM HERE

  8. I am not a fan of the little polystyrene peanuts - I have been ordering from Lush.co.uk and they pack things using popped popcorn as it is biodegradable- i think that's really neat - as do the local birds!

  9. Yeah.  They should just use little rubber balls.

  10. i havnt heard of them beign a real threat to the envoirment, but they most likely arnt doign any good.

i personally like bubble wrap more because they can easily recycle them and they're a great way to entertain children (well at least they do to me).

  11. I used to work for a company that used puffed corn packing peanuts, they looked similar to Styrofoam and worked just the same, and are completely biodegradable, as well as edible.  In fact we kept our favorite seasoning salts on hand when we felt like a snack.

  12. The only degradable ones I know of dissolve in water. Give them to a local business to reuse. There's always plenty around my town who want them.
