  1. bad idea by unplugging your fridge that can mess it up try turning your ac off at night instead of the fridge and it shouldnt cause a powerserge but u never know

  2. i don't think it's a smart idea to unplug all your appliances...at least not the big ones.  unplugging your fridge will cause your dairy products to spoil.  the constant warming and cooling isn't good for anything in the fridge.  also, anything you have in your freezer will have to get thrown away because overnight, things will start to thaw.  meats cannot be refrozen once thawed unless they are cooked.  same for any veggies.  ice cream gets ice chips on the top.  unplug your small appliances...toaster, blender, etc.  but not the big ones.  change your light bulbs to energy efficient ones, turn lights off when you're not in the room...there's a ton of things you can do without unplugging your appliances.

  3. put a device on your frig that automatically turns the power on and off at the times you want it to.

but its a bad idea cause frigs are programed to go through a defrost cycle

  4. these surges are always there whenever your fridge or TV is switched on or off you may feel by observing the bulb light when ever your fridge is turned on/ off automatically, bulb dims  so no worry do it yourself or put an scheduler or sensor which can switch on or off the gadgets.... what you plan to  do manually.

the best thing is you are going to SAVE Energy and no harm will happen if you switch on or off the fridges and TVs at night

  5. Unplugging the refrigerator is a bad idea. I doubt you save that much and you risk food poisoning.

Major power drains at home at night are:

    AC

set-top box with a Hard Drive (PVR) (it is usually on)

    Lights

  6. I don't think you're saving and your probably sending your refrigerator to an early grave. The refrigerator has a thermostat which makes it run until it's cold...about 36-40 degrees. Unplugging it at night just lets it warm up and then upon plugging it in in the morning it just runs longer to cool off again.

So yes, you use more power in the morning. Keep your refrigerator and freezer FULL (with jugs of water if you have to). THIS will save energy.
