A lot of the myth of Vampires was brought about due to Brahm Stokers stories of Dracula based on the actual history of Vlad the Impaler who was a living person.

Vlad's father gave him and his brother to a Turkish king for political favor and was abused sexually and physically.

In return Vlad used his knowledge gained from the years with the Turks, to extract his revenge by use of the Turks ways of torture, which the favorite was of draining the blood of their victims.

Vlad impaled more than 20,000 turks before his demise, thus earning the name Dracula.

There are people who do crave and drink blood for some reason. I wouldn't call them vampires though.

And they don't have"powers" like Edward Cullen either.

I wish Edward was real though. LOL
