Remember 8 years ago we had a really bad olympics, So they told us more of the Lottery money would go to sports to enable us (GRB) to get back our standing in the world of sports, (olympics)

Has that money been spent wisely, or has the more money thats been pumped in to sports meant that the government can put less in themselves.

  1. not sure

  2. From what I heard, most of the money is being wasted on hosting the next olympics.

  3. Probably so that they have to put in less themselves, but most olympic venues run over budget, so they're probably hedging their bets! :)

  4. dont care for it.

  5. I've no idea where that money has gone, probably to pay for "consultants" and "administrators", lucky if it's even bought a tennis ball.

  6. I would like to think that lottery funding has helped our athletes. But that doesn't mean that I approve of how it is obtained and then distributed. The national lottery is effectively a tax on the poorest members of society. So the less well off are helping our athletes to reach their potential - instead of big business putting its money where its mouth is.

While sport has benefited - the arts, which were also supposed to benefit from the lottery, have been robbed of their share to pay for sports. 5 minutes of Olympic glory is obviously worth more to the government than supporting our creative industries of which about 7% of our population actually works in the sector and it accounts for more than 5% of our GDP.

  7. No, too much is going to Politically Correct causes like the Disabled Black Muslim Lesbians society.
