Bush isn't one to be telling anyone they are being bullies as far as I'm concerned. We basically forced Iraq into a civil war at our expense.

  1. No. It is none of our business. they dont like us and dont want us there . just like oraq. we need to stay out of other peoples business. And worry about our own . bush has balls to send our people to fight these wars when he wouldnt fight. And so much of this is based on lies . and now Americans are dead over it all . and now it may happen again. Rusiia will kick our yaya. He better learn when to shut up . Russiia is no one to play with .and he knows this .

  2. No i think this Country of ours has interferred far to much, time to leave well alone, Russia is a big contry not a good idea let them sort it out.

  3. The world isn't very large. It used to be. It used to take years to sail around it. Now you can send a missile just about anywhere in a few minutes.

Warfare isn't the same either. You used to be able throw a spear a few yards at an enemy-- and maybe you carried four or five spears. Now you can fly over your enemy at mach 1 and throw rocks the size of fists at a few thousand a minute.

And the structure of the world is no longer isolated pockets of civilization. We're shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors. Where our neighbor's problems were their own business, and if they wanted to kill each other, it didn't affect us. Today, if you shoot at your neighbor, it... and miss, you might hit us... or one of our friends.

Furthermore, "taking back" what has been granted sovereignty is akin to what Hussein did to Kuwait. We can't just allow tyrants to do what they want just because they think they have the right, and because they think it's nobody's business but their own... and that of their victims... and the victims don't count.

And, it's difficult to watch a people fight each other. We went through that during our own Civil War... brother killing brother... and only because of where they are on some map.

Finally, the world is sitting there on it's posterior watching. They want to see if we're really on the ropes and just can't do the job they've set for us -- world police force. They want to see if Russia was actually correct when, way back when, they called us "paper tigers." They want to see if we're going to wimp out and not protect the weak underdog.

Those are the reasons we seem to be inclined to become involved in conflicts the tyrants of the world would rather we'd leave alone..

And we never "forced Iraq into a civil war." Once upon a time there was this evil king who held ruled his people with a fist and instilled fear among them and the neighboring countries. For a long time the king grew rich from the oil his country produced while his people starved. When they complained, he would torture and kill them... so, in spite of the terrible living conditions, not too many complained.

One of the advantages of being an insane tyrant is that nobody really wants to test your resolve to quell such insane concepts as freedom, individual opinion, the will of the people...

The makings of a civil war have existed for centuries. For the first time in centuries the people are free to express their opinion. Because they're kind of backward, some feel the only way to express your opinion is to obliterate people with differing opinions.

What we're doing now is trying to convince those backward-thinking people that obliterating people who disagree with you is not the way we do things in polite world society. It appears that, for some, this is a very difficult lesson to learn. It's taking a lot longer than anybody anticipated. These people now have the freedom, and they don't know how to exercise it responsibly. Their methods have worked for centuries. They can't see why they can't be left alone to use them today. The simple answers to these questions have been suggested already.

  4. They are not at war with Georgia. They are merely fulfilling their duties according to their UN mandate to ensure peace in the region of Georgia.

    Georgia declared war on Russia.

    Russia declined their offer.

Russia is there as a UN peacekeeping force.

  5. no, who are we to say they can't exploit weaker countries too?

  6. No, we could not do anything now anyway. We are strapped.
