I believe we should have state laws requiring taverns to recycle, they go through so much aluminum and glass it seems silly that there is no such law. I am talking about my state other states may have such laws.

  1. Yes, as well as many other businesses

  2. No.

I want the government in as little of my life as possible.  Laws are a government intrusion, for whatever good, or whatever bad.  We don't need a nanny state.  I believe in recycling, because it's my choice, not the law.

If it were to become law, how would the enforcement of it be paid for?  Can we all say increased taxes?  Can you imagine being thrown in jail for not recycling?  Murder, theft, drunk driving, child abuse, and not recycling.

Not to mention, how would the transients get their beer money?

  3. Why not create an incentive to encourage the establishments to recycle instead of creating a law that must in turn be enforced.

  4. Maybe a better way than forcing them to recycle would be to give them incentives to recycle.  If bars could somehow see a small profit from recycling, then many more would do it.  The average person doesn't change their habits until it becomes to expensive to continue doing what they're doing.

  5. I agree, yes, but the problem is they might charge us for it.What really kills me is the butts on the pavement outside.

  6. I'd like to see the use of consumer/peer pressure instead to persuade people and companies to recycle.  If every one of us were to request that companies recycle and suggest that we'll only be spending our money in places that are kind to the environment......that would get their attention much faster than forcing them to do it because of yet another law.

  7. I think we should pressure ALL kinds of companies to recycle.  I was getting my oil changed last week and noticed the workers put paper, plastic, cardboard boxes and empty oil cans all in one trach can!

Retail stores throw out ridiculous amounts of stuff.  Usually clothing that is imported has to be packaged against bugs so each garment is in its own plastic, then grouped into one larger plastic bag in groups of about 10, then those groups of 10 are grouped into about 5 and put in ANOTHER plastic bag, then boxed for shipment.

This is where buying American is important, as well as buying green.

  8. Probably not, especially if there are different rates for collecting recyclables than for collecting trash.

  9. -Oh yes,a donation bin should be kept at all bars and allow the local fire departments to recycle it.

-Reason why,is because when i would bar tend many who drank should not have been able to drive.

-The cost for drunk driving and dammage these drivers cost dont cost them a d@mn thing!!

-It cost the tax payers,so they can help the taxpayers while they sit on their @ss and drink.

  10. DEFINITELY!!!! Most of these people are drunk, so they really don't care at that point. Just replace the trash cans with recycling bins, and they'll never know!

  11. No, but make it worthwhile for businesses to run cleaner. Recycling can help with that.

  12. Good idea.....they already recycle our money.
