A Ballad for Fenway and Blue

by C.S. Scotkin

I sing a song , Fenway and Blue

my two grand-dogs, faithful, true!

They live way over the bay,

I never see them enough!

Fenway, canine adolescent,

seems that you were always meant

to chase your Frisbees and tail

to chew up your squeaky toys!

Blue, one brown eye, one sapphire,

a good old boy, you retire

to your bed by the window

while watching Fenway’s antics.

Good dogs! I thank you personally,

treasures you guard so well for me,

your masters, my children dear,

keep them safe all through the night.

  1. as fenway and blue watch over yours, sambuca watches over mine. best dog ever born. my treasure. fun poem.

  2. Must love grand-dogs...alas, I only have nephews and neices, and they would be Tabitha, Annie, Oakley, and Shelby...and those are only the dogs. There's also Sugar Bug and Zuko, the horses. But yes, we all need more critters, and more great poems. Thank you.

  3. That was sweet and mellifluous. And I demand some more ballads of the kind. It's a great delight to read them. So keep them coming!
