  1. I know it seems like a good idea, but unlike airplanes, once a train leaves a station it is not in the air, the entire line is more or less open, it would be virtually impossible to secure the entire US rail system.

What is a terrorist going to do on a train? He can't just hijack it and drive it into some vulnerable object/building.

If we want to avoid living in a police state, each and every one of us has to remain vigilant and alert to potential threats and inform appropriate law enforcement when we see something suspicious.

That does not mean a vigilante state with armed possees everywhere but that is another benefit our gun laws have, if a bad guy thinks anyone can be armed, they have to operate under the assumption that everyone is armed.

  2. I would sooner have cameras and sniffing dogs than think  my fellow passengers had a gun on their person ..Terrorist you can excuse for having a cause  but guns in any d**k tom or harrys hands is just sick

  3. We'd serve ourselves better if we kept track of all elected officials, with a particularly jaundiced eye towards DC, to monitor:

    1.  Junkets

    2.  Pork Barrel spending

    3.  Misappropriation of taxpayer $$$ (searching for hookers, hiring hookers, gifts for hookers, travel for hookers [we could probably roll this into 'junkets' ] bribes for hookers, making hookers "disappear" when the bribes fail, etc...)

  4. What terrorist activities?  We haven't has one since 2001 (9/11).

If you want to live in a police state, move to North Korea.  They have never had any kind of terrorist attacks ever.

Besides, how does tracking people prevent terrorist activities?

    Good luck...

  5. Increasing Terror Activities ?? I guess YOU must be living in either China or India... but if you were living in CHINA, you wouldn't be permitted to comment upon it in the internet !!

Seriously, I commute on the train each day and use it for travel twice a month... I have NEVER seen a cop or security officer at the major station I use.  I won't NAME it... but we ARE in Northern California.

I get nervous with the "big-brother" type system... life is getting too close to the invasive systems of the movie "Minority Report".
