  1. I don't really think so, I mean, it's the classic home team optimism ya know? But I think the British put a lot of rude pressure on Gasquet. They were just puttin him down. I mean, if he wasn't french, he'd probably have won. I mean, yes, the french and the british have a rivalry, but I think the behavior at the Murray- Gasquet match was just bad!

  2. Quite! But then again I'm sure you can understand.

We do it for Americans too (less so for Wimbledon but certainly for the US Open circuit). Root Root for the home team, right?

Not getting ahead of myself but Murray HAS beaten Federer 2 times. Personally I don't think he can pull it off on grass (his wins were on hard court) BUT one can be optimistic.

  3. Yes but then again alot of people expect a British person to at least come close to winning the British tournament.

Not me though, I was supporting a Serb!

  4. I think there's too much hype in all sports and too much importance attached to 2 people playing bat and ball!

  5. No, you guys don't put enough pressure on your tennis players.  That's why Fred Perry was the last person from the UK to win Wimbledon.  The problem is that you guys apply too much pressure when it's too late.  It's good junior tennis programs that lead to good professional players.  There's not enough pressure on junior tennis to create players capable of winning at the professional level.

  6. But if he was welsh you would be rubbing it in our faces

  7. Pressure - get real!!!

  8. I believe the Brits certainly do. Just look at the headlines on every newspaper today. Andy Murray narrowly escapes defeat and it's like everyone is acting like the guy won Wimbledon!!!!

  9. since henman is gone evryone wants so much from andy murray!

  10. I feel that players from the country that is hosting an event always feel pressure to perform well, so as to not let their compatriots down. For years I have wanted Amelie Mauresmo to win at Roland Garros, but the pressure always seems to get to her.

  11. Yeah I do. Tim Henman almost won wimbledon, got to the finals, the semi-finals and he won tournaments abroad but alot of people still think of him as not winning wimbledon.

When you have players like Federer and Nedal it really is competitive - which is what they are there for lol. But we do tend to slate people too much if they dont win. It is just a game really, when it comes down to it!!
