  1. No.

  2. What power? Most constitutional monarchy limits their sovereign's power almost to nothing. These Kings/Queens are only a symbolic figure, merely existing on government grants and funds. If there are to be any further reforms, the government might as well just abolish the monarchy completely. If I was the Queen, that would be my response, and I'll offer my crown to the Prime Minister before he gives me the boot and say, "Here, I've warmed your throne" and walk out.

  3. no. there are many more important issues for our contry at the moment.

  4. there are many ways to look at this question

the Queen (through tourism) does make money for the country--she cost every Britain about one Canadian dollar a year.

Would you prefer to give some one a large amount of money or a title??????????? (as  reward for doing something for the country?9 (ok bribes etc

as for power as the queen has less than you

she doesn't vote or even SAY anything political I can only assume that you want to increase her power so please tell me what powers you would like her to have?

Perhaps just voicing her thoughs as you are doing now?

  5. No, because in reality the monarchy doesn't really hold much  power these days, and they benefit the country in terms of the income they generate from tourism.

In the current climate there are far more pressing issues for the UK.

  6. What power? The Queen holds next to no constitutional power. Officially she selects the Prime Minister and ratifies Parliamentary bills but these are ceremonial. The Prime Minister is always the leader of the largest party and no monarch has witheld Royal assent since Queen Anne in the early eighteenth century. If the Queen witheld assent she would be forced to abdicate.

  7. royals control public opinion about themselves, by exercising thru their prostituted entourage, the power of ostracization of critics, such as those that want their power revoked and the monarchy ended. So brits just shut up and grunt as they see the excesses of those royals who are nothing but pickpockets, taking money from brits pockets and earnings. A referendum?

Whoever would suggest it wouldnt have a job, would lose his or her friends and be ostracized promptly. So brits shut up

  8. as long as bush isn't the monarch

  9. Yes!!!

  10. For the Brits it would be like closing a valuable tourist attraction like Westminster Abbey. For the Commonwealth countries, I think they should wait until H.M. is done, (she is a decent woman of good example),  and then hold a referendum. It is handy to have a titular repository of power, should a corrupt government try to illegally hold power.

  11. NO

  12. The monarchy has no power. What your petition should concentrate on is the extended royal family. All we need is a head and spouse, an heir and a spare. All the rest can get a job...

  13. this is a question allegedly asked by an AUSTRALIAN according to the category - maybe some of you don't know that a few years back we had a big convention to discuss becoming a republic, which idea was dismissed because the conventioneers, elected by the people, could not agree on what form it should take.

The power held by the monarchy over Australian affairs is a bit different from that held over the UK - or perhaps that's used over the UK - 30 years ago a Government was dismissed by the Queen's representative, unelected, which still angers many Aussies as an example of monarchical power..

Yes, I do think we AUSSIES should have a referendum on whether we are ruled by a monarch or not, and leave it to those of you in other countries to make your own choice.
