  1. No, there would just be more fires and more homeless people.

Just like since the increase of people riding bikes the bike/car accidents have increased.  Everything has its price.

  2. does that also include legalizin weed? if yes im all go holla :)

  3. Yes, we should all try to conserve and not use so much fuel.  However, I don't think that going back in time will help us too much.  Actually, 50 years ago, energy was cheap & nobody gave a thought about using it!

I try to conserve.  I hang clothes on the line instead of using a dryer.  I keep lights off in rooms that are not being used.  I recycle aluminum, glass, plastic, and paper.  But I feel that I'm emptying the ocean with a spoon.

But here's an ugly recycling story...Several years ago, I took my papers, aluminum, glass, and plastic to the recycling station.  While I was dropping my stuff off, a semi tractor was hooking up to the recycling unit.  I thought I'd follow him and see where he took the stuff.  He went to a landfill, about 20 miles away and dumped the whole load into the landfill!  I was horrified!

We just do the best we can!

  4. I've often thought the same thing, but...no. Too much of a fire hazzard. There are many ways to cut down on the use of electricity. Unplug your small applicances when not in use. If you have a battery operated clock, you won't need the digital ones on things like microwaves. They can use up more energy than you think. Unplug your TV when you go to bed at night, use energy efficient light bulbs in your lamps, don't use you AC if possible and keep your heat at a lower setting in the winter.

  5. Yes most definitely! I think that we should all try to conserve by turning lights off when not in use and recycling I've been doing this for years. My folks were very much into the environment way before it was the "In thing" to do.

  6. standby, the pony express will be coming by your house in approximately three weeks with an answer to your question

  7. Candles and oil lamps use wax and oil, either from petroleum or animals like whales. Electricity can come from oil, but it can also come from the sun, wind, or water. It is also a lot cheaper.

  8. We already try to lower what we use. We drive less, hang clothes up outside, and not turn on lights until we have to. Utilizing candles and stuff would be a good idea too.

I'd LOVE to go back to horse and buggy, but there's no where to tie the horse up at Wal-mart. I'm not joking, either. I also wouldn't mind going back to the large southern belle dresses to wear everyday. Have you ever worn a corset (if you're a girl)?? They are actually really comfortable. I've seriously considered buying one and wearing it everyday anyway. Not only will I look thinner, but it helps support your back.

To answer your question, yes, we should return back to the olden days, in moderation of course. I definitely would not want to go back to the wood stove to cook on or not have a refrigerator. However, some of the other things would be nice, but what would you think of someone wearing a southern belle dress walking into the grocery store? I go to a lot of renaissance faires and if I go into a gas station wearing all my garb, then I get the worst stares imaginable. It's embarrassing.
