  1. did you read the article...

i know most daily mail readers only ever read the headlines, before the blood pressure starts going up, and they start blubbering about "johnny foreigner"

    from the article:

"But have they all been sold a pup? For, despite intensive investigations by animal welfare organisations, no one has been able to confirm whether the dog survived the ordeal or not.

Meanwhile, Guillermo "Habacuc" Vargas - previously unknown outside his native Costa Rica - has become one of the world's most talked-about "artists". "

  2. I saw the story on Snopes. Makes you sick. All this modern art rubbish, like unmade beds, men eating foetuses and recently a big crack in the floor of a gallery ain't really art. Its just c**p made for rich people to throw money at it. Like the emperors new clothes. Or made for shock value, like the Hindley portrait.

Give me the fine arts like painting, sculpture and poetry any day..

  3. YES I DO,  the purpose of art is to express emotions, However sometimes emotions should not be portrayed in art as these are the kind that tend to be insulting disgusting and downright evil.

It would be like a seriel killer canvassing art of his victims. Art is an expression but not one that should always be told...

  4. I've seen a great deal of ugliness, insult to reason, fine feelings and decent reactions being touted as art in recent years, but this is the first sign of clear abuse I've seen.

I last thought that the snooty, abstract, head-in-the-clouds, ivory tower, we're too smart to like beautiful paintings art crowd had hit its lowest ebb with that installation in a European park, with mannequins made up to look like children, hanging from a tree by a noose around their necks. Some guy started cutting them down and was sued for it, by the city.

But maybe this will make people really wake up.

The fact is that today's supposedly high art is just an ugly mind game played by people to make themselves feel clever, and that supposedly formulaic, commercial art, which adorns albums, book covers and calenders and animated movies is better by any standard.

Its time to bring back Bouguereau, Michalangelo, humanist or Hellenic sensibilities. Its time to forget this garbage and embrace the new renaissance that is dawning.

  5. Art?  Phooey!
