(Serious question for those in the know),,,In this I mean will humans ever be able to hold a conversation (albeit on the animals level) with an animal of the higher brain capacity like ,for example chimps, orangutans, dogs, dolphins etc,,or are we destined to be unable to comprehend them and them us?

By conversation I mean on a level of mutual understanding and the exchange of ideas

  1. No.

  2. with the current advances in technology, yes I think that we will be able to talk to animals.  They already have a technology that tells what a cat wants when it meows, purrs, etc.

  3. "'''''''''' I hope so we'll be able to talk to animals .Bcoz seeing the advancements of science being a science student i am sure .When the scientists have been able to find the smalest of the smallest modification of animals thean they would be capable of conversing with them

  4. im havink conversetions with  my dog alll the time thats why they call it Schizophrenia  lol

  5. Yes so far the humans have learned how to act like animals. It's just matter of time, one day wwe will knwo how to talk like them too. winx

  6. Chimps already use sign language and though they don't discuss philosophy with us, they DO communicate at levels we that approximate what we expect from very young humans.

  7. Animals cant really speak they can communicate in ways but not speak in a languege.maybe in the future we would be able to make communications by sounds and signals but not by speakin english to them but making communiations will be able to do in the future.some researchers are devoloping ways to communucate with bugs.

  8. i know how to talk to animals.

  9. Animal language express emotional concepts such as hunger anger and fear, rather than abstract concepts like color and taste.

We already can communicate these concepts with animals simply by playing back recordings from other animals, and listening to the sounds that they make (for example, playing a section of bird song that indicates that a predator is nearby).

However, with the (possible) exception of chimps and dolphins no animals are even capable of holding conversations with each other, let alone with us. It's beyond their capacity. Most operate on a series of simple natural rules and imperatives rather than on the extended logic and creativity that we have.

  10. A very interesting question.

    Very interesting read

  12. yes but not in our timeline, animals dont communicate with any kind of language. they communicate with fear, anger, and hunger. im sure in the future we will have to connect our minds with animals to know what they feel.we wont be able to communicate with words cause they cant talk.

  13. Haven't animals already been taught a few hundred words with symbols etc and can follow simple instructions and also respond.

I can't see communication ever getting past ' put the banana on the red chair' because

'what do you think of stem cell cloning?' is always going to be beyond their basic mental capacities.
