  1. What was he thinking!

If you kicked a bear at its butt will it not turn around to eat you up?

What you people need to do is to be really good friends with Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and China. Not just good friends but really good friends. Get lots of investments from China and Japan, now. Set up industrial zones as near the border as possible so that Chinese and Japanese factories would expand into the occupied land.

Make the big bear feel so lonely that it starts to feel so bad.

Get in as many European monitors into your country as possible. Request for Turkish, Chinese and Japanese peace keepers to replace the Russian "peace keepers". Make Ossetians and Abkhazians want to come to your factories to look for work. Dilute Russian influence with and international mix of cultures. Will Russia provide Ossetia and Abkhazia with work and investments? Make Ossetia and Abkhazia feel that Russia is using them only as door posts and foot mats.

Make Europe and NATO countries feel so terribly sorry for having neglected you for so long and you had to throw a tantrum at the big bear to get their attention. What were they thinking, not letting you join NATO sooner? Do you think it is easier now to get them to want to muddy their hands - now that the big bad bear is about to sink its teeth to eat its blueberry pie.

Let NATO know that this blueberry pie belongs to them and not to the bear. Show NATO how delicious this blueberry pie is but on the other hand show the bear how bitter and unattractive the pie.

Act now to make yourself prosperous and influential. Don't wait for someone to feed you like a cat or a dog. You are not someone's pet. Make emotional bonds with small countries like Netherlands, Israel and Singapore. Learn from them and how they keep their culture despite having very international investments.

  2. georgia did the right thing if you think killing over 2000 innocent people the right thing then crying when russia stood up for its citizens. so no it werent the right thing. however russia is not helping the situation one bit by refusing to leave and by recognising the two breakaway states. theyre now just adding to the tensions

  3. I side 100% with the Russians on this one.  We support break aways here and denounce it there...can't have it both ways.  The US stoked a fire with a can of gas on this one.  The Georgian leader is a sock puppet and apparently capable of anything as long as he feels he has the backing.

  4. This article has a wealth of information about the conflict in Georgia. Short synopsis- militia told Ossetians to evacuate area, then fired on Georgian villages. Russian troops were already assembled and rolling in toward Georgia. Saakashvilli made effort to defend the country, but not successful. Peace and prosperity are in the future of a free and independent Georgia, but maybe more than a year away.

  5. Them folks had been rebellin' since the end of the cold war. I think his timing was suspicious and the subsequent results were fairly predictable.

The confrontation seems to have annoyed Russia as much as anything.

Russia lost troops, Georgia lost lots of troops and most of their military infrastructure.

The only ones who got ANYTHING out of it were the Republicans who so far have managed a bounce out of the deal, and they also have a very serious conflict of interest involving one of McCain's advisers who was working for a company that provided "strategic advice"  to Georgia. Not very GOOD strategic advice it would seem.

  6. No.

No, the South Ossetians separated from Georgia at the same time as Georgia separated from the USSR. So if it is legal for Georgia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia to separate it's legal for the Ossetians.

No it's the Balkans they are always fighting.

No, they are class one stupid, you have to be insane to attack the Russians and think they are going to passively accept it.

  7. I'm pretty sure that it was a stunt to get McCain elected so no... I don't think they should have done it.

I think McCain needs to get rid of the Georgian Lobbyist on his campaign staff if he wants to be taken seriously as the "anti-corruption" candidate.
