Do you think whipping horses and using them to race is cruel?

I hate it when i see people whipping horses, I know people go horesriding- i do to, but i was just watching the grand national and this question just came to mind, does it hurt the horses when they are whipped? Also the weather is so hot for those poor horses.

NO...the jockeys know how hard to push those horses and they dont get hurt when they are whipped

of course it hurts when you whip a horse but only momentarily. however there are some jockeys who will really cut a horse and leave welps on them. but no its not cruel the horses are not abused with the stick its used more as encouragement then anything. the weather really doesn't effect horses much either as they are truly the greatest atheletes in the world.

They are bred for racing its their purpose. Some jockeys go over board with the whip but the HRA hands out bans for sport, to jockeys that go overboard or use the whip in the wrong place
