  1. A coaches life is a tenuous thing Cossy, here today, gone tomorrow as they say. Who knows, he may be on the right track at last!

  2. i reckon they will keep him. hes getting the players so close to beating teams that are in contention to win the flag. so i think he is doing a good job.

  3. No..Wallace is a di<khead who could'nt play and now he cant coach neither...

I hope the Tigers do well but with him leading them i dont think they have much hope this year...

  4. He didn't have to do anything to save his job.

Who said his job was in jeapordy? The likes of Wallace will always be offered a job in AFL as long as he wants one. Not like some coaches who only last one position & gets the sack - then after that no-one wants them.

Look at the procession of Fremantle's coaches for instance. No one wants any of them. Who is going to want to employ Harvey after he quits, or is given the flick.......The Broken Hill Bungholes may take him on but that's about all!

  5. aaah, stomper, very unlucky! (I'm a Saints supporter!)

Did you go to the game? Amazing game! Close all the way... edge of the seat stuff. How good was Richo?!!?! and Browny too... but the Saints still scraped it in, thanks to Milney's 7 and Robert Harvey's skills! Riewoldt got injured! >.>

As for the question. I think no. But given the exact same situation next season and the answer would be yes. I think Wallace is safe no matter what happens this season and then next season all the expectations and pressure will be heaped onto Wallace and the Tigers to have a 'successful' year.

If they do begin to win games Wallace will coach for another 2-3 years (at least)... if they don't he'll get one last chance in 2009 and if Richmond still aren't performing then he'll be cut (..sacked whatever).

I remember noticing that in 2002, if the saints had've kicked two more goals in every match the would've made the 8 instead of finishing 15th. Richmond are in a very similar situation... now the saints went up from there but will the Tigers?

  6. i agree with you. They finally found the ingredients to win games.

they are very close to winning a game.

  7. He certainly has earned back some credit for the way the Tigers have improved this year.

I think he just saved his job for another year.

  8. Cozzy, how ya goin mate, yeah and nah, as you mentioned we still ain't winning, at the end of the year the club will look at results i think, we are playing much better footy, harder footy.

just can't crack a win and it will continue against the cats you would think, then we have ess, things might turn around a bit, but how long can the boys confidence be up, with these heart breaking losses.

Wallace is doing OK, but mate, we need a win, should kicked that goal, Moore.

could of beaten the hawks, and def should of won against the dogs.

the improvement is there for sure, cotchin will come in next game, maybe they will keep him out till ess?

  9. Gday... i think the tigers are pushing every team they verse now to the top of there game... but still arnt finishing to often... but strongly agree that they are playing much more better football and should be scoring more to win there games! i think they need another big man like richo up forward to help out... deledio is good but not enuf up forward.. hant seen much of pedifer latly...

  10. We need to contemplate just how much of a teams sucess boils down to their senior coach when there are so many other factors.

For a start you have to look at who did the recruiting for the club, the form of the players and their overall health. Then you have got a number of "skills coaches" who work with the players as well as other executives who are responsible for the running of the club. You also have to take club morale into consideration. For instance, the Tigers might be playing youngsters who hated the team when they were kids. That kinda thing has gotta have an effect on how well they perform. I know as an Essendon supporter, if I had been drafted to the Blues I wouldn't have been too stoked about it!

Having said all that, I think that the Tigers recent improvement might have more to do with Matthew Richardsons recent good form than Terry Wallace. Having seen Terry coach the Bulldogs and Tigers, I am dubious about his coaching ability.

  11. Well yeah.  To be honest the Tiges remind me of the Cats of 2006.  Loads of talent but they were trying something new and they really ****** up badly.  The first quarter against the Saints were the worst clangers I've ever seen.  probably cost them the game.

There were glimpses of brilliance but then it all turned to shite again.

I reckon they're building on something and to be frank, I don't think that something includes Richo.  Wallace may redeem himself as a coach even if for just copying Bomber Thompson.
