Question:

Do you think without saying words in your mind?

More and more often I find myself thinking in the form of pictures and colors and less with actually speaking to myself in my mind.

I used to always think the words I was trying to say, and when I was trying to figure something out, I would also think the words, but now I'm not doing that as much and it's getting more and more difficult to vocalize what I'm trying to say. I know what I'm getting at, but because I didnt go over it in my head first, it's very difficult to get my meaning across. Anyway, how do you think and is there any way to to work this out? I'm just curious, not worried about it or anything.

  1. That this is CHANGING is worrisome to me. Sorry if I'm scaring you, but I think it's worth looking into by consulting a medical professional.

I say this because how word-driven, versus how image-oriented we are is generally something that's fairly stable during the course of our lives.

I'm a word-person, and rarely think in pictures -- though we all do to some extent.

  2. I can think faster than i can blink, if i put pressure on my mind.

I do have a tendancy to say the words aloud in my mind though, when i'm reading something (sometimes, if the scene is grand enough, i'll even add an echo).
