  1. it would be hard since im on the computer, texting, watching tv or listening to music everyday.

it wouldnt be impossible but it wouldnt be fun either

    :)

  2. h**l no. Technology's made our life much easier and interesting. For example, computers get miracles done in the blink of an eye, TV keeps you entertained while you're sitting in your couch. Cars transport you to distant places...

  3. we did it before so should manage again. remembering the wheel must of been cutting edge in its time.nothing is easy

  4. No we can't, every process that we have created was a result of technology.  If you meant modern technology, (ex. computers) then yes because we did it before.

However fire, the spear, the shelter were all a result of technology. Primitive it may be when they were first made,  its no different when we make something now.

  5. No, because I grew up with Internet and cable TV. My Internet was down one day and I was not in a very good mood. I don't want to even imagine living without technology. I am a very techie person I have to have my gadgets.

  6. I could live, but I'd get bored after a while.  Then again I'd spend my entire life thinking.

  7. Just like I have for 77 years. the GW thing is a scam by Gore & the LEFT

  8. nooo because i need my:

    cell phone

    computer

    tv

    microwave

    oven

    stove

    refrigerator

    ipod

    and a lot more

  9. What technology are you speaking of?  Remember at one point in human history, fire was a major technological advancement.

For me personally, I still want saddles with stirups (a major breakthrough at one point) and briddles and bits for my horses.

I still want Vetrinary care for my critters, and medical care when needed for us humans.

I want the major human breakthrough of domesticated livestock on my farm.  However I want old fashioned heritage animals, rather than the dumber than rocks modern livestock animals.

I want the other major human breakthough of domesticated seeds, so I can grow my own food.  However I once again want heritage seeds, which are open polinators, NONE of that GMO, terminator seed garbage on my farm!

I like tennis shoes, with the rubber soles.  I also greatly enjoy other foot gear, like hiking boots, and barn boots.  It really would suck to go back to being barefoot, or in moccosins in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

I have goats.  An electric fence is a must for me.  I don't care to try to fence goats with split rail fences, or spend my life out in the open as a sheperd.

I like cameras.  I love photo albums, and all the captured memories.

    Airplanes....I don't need them.

    Cars.....I don't need them.

Rubber tires...love them!  Great for bikes, and horsedrawn wagons (goat drawn too).

TV....they could all be sent to landfills as far as I'm concerned.

Books....I read banned books.  Need I say more?  I'm very passionate about the written word.

Cell phones....handy, but I could in fact live my life without one.

Radio...I love music, and it's a very important means of people being able to communicate with one another.

I don't want to spend my life whapping laundry against a rock, so a wash machine of some sort is a "must" for me.  By the way, I could have a wash machine that an animal, like a goat, or large dog could power via a treadmill.

I want refrigeration.  I don't want my husband to have to spend dangerous time during the winter out on frozen lakes cutting blocks of ice, and moving them to an ice house to keep our food cold during the summer.

Toilet paper....I feel strongly that it may be one of mankinds greatest achivements.

I enjoy the internet to be able to do research, and connect with people like me.  However I could live without it.

All in all, I really don't need much technology in my life, especially the more modern technology.

  10. Yes, I can live without it. I lived without it for over 50 yrs without a problem. In fact, as I see it technology has caused more problems than it has ever solved.

  11. Mr. Al Gore and his friends want us to do just that.

It would be difficult...we'd basically be returning to the stone age.

  12. Could I live without it?  Yes.  How?  Just look at the past, we've done it before.  Why?  Well, while I could "live" without it,  the progressive achievements of science and technology convince me that there is no good reason to attempt that.  Admittedly progress always brings problems, but the overwhelming good outweighs the intermittent inconveniences.

  13. Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live completely, 100% “off of the grid and are completely self sufficient”

The house is built utilizing natures natural elements, in the shape of an octagon with 8ft wide arch doors on every wall to catch every angle of wind (typical 4 sided homes have half the chance as one with 8 sides. A circle being the most efficient design). Woodburning stoves, solar chimney, solar AC, solar heating, solar water heating (pool and home), solar stove, solar power, wind power, hydrogen powered back up generator, hydrogen back up water heater, hydrogen stove, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (electric vehicle) and satellite internet.

We also built many green small cabins on the ranch that we offer to family, friends and our on-site off-grid workshop guests, including one straw bale, one papercrete, earth bag and adobe, one cob and cordwood, one underground and rammed earth, one log and post and beam and one rock. Each one actually started as a test for what the main house would be and were later finished and turned into guest cabins. I later wrote a guide on how to build with alternative materials using alternative methods for next to nothing.

We raise meat and milk goats, chickens for meat and eggs, ducks for meat and eggs, trap havilina (wild boar pig), rabbit, quail. brew our own beer from home grown products, preserve our fruits, vegetables, etc. smoke and jerky the meat, make our own soap, cheese.

There are no utility lines, no water lines, no roads, tv, cell service, etc. on our ranch. EVERYTHING needed is produced here. All electricity comes from 27 solar panels, 2 main wind gens and a back hydrogen generator if needed (typically we can last 9 days with all luxuries of sunless windless weather, hasn't happened yet). Water is caught and storaged from the rain. Hot water is made with solar batch water heaters with an on-demand hydrogen hot water heater as backup. solar chimney, solar AC, solar heating, solar water heating (pool and home), solar stove, solar power, wind power, hydrogen powered back up generator, hydrogen back up water heater, hydrogen stove, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (electric vehicle) and satellite internet. Even our vehicles use alternative energy (2 hydrogen trucks, 1 EV electric vehicle converted). Because of this we have no bills, no debt and no mortgage.

I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

my home has all the comforts listed above plus some. we live very comfortable without effecting the environment. just saying that tol et you know it's possible. you may not want to go as extreme as me and my family but anywhere in between is something.

Without getting to in depth here, Using alternative fuels in your vehicles and harnessing your own electricity from the sun, water, earth and wind are the 2 are key elements in making a green transition and erasing your carbon footprint.

here's a calculator to find out how much of a green impact your making (carbon footprint)

if you'd like to make your next step feel free to contact me personally at www agua-luna com

I've been installing home made Solar panels. Solar stoves, Solar batch and inline hot water heaters. Solar radiant heating. Solar home heating and AC, along with home made wind gens and other alternative energy items for the last 3 years.

You can even make the above projects on site with simple parts from the local hardware stores or auto stores or junk yards. For more info check out some guides I wrote / compiled on how to DIY www agua-luna com

Again these projects can be accomplished anywhere by anyone.

if you absolutely can't do anything in your home at least you can put alternative fuels in your car. most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

    The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

as for recyling the best way i've found without taking money from your won pocket is to join a free freecycle group in your area or visit the habitat for humanity.

    Stop Global Warming,

  14. Yes I can, but it would be very difficult. The first thing I would miss is CDs,TV, and my cell phone. However,I can survive just fine without them I would just have to adjust. Without technology we would be missing many things such as: coffee machines, microwave, video cameras, DVD, etc. But I guess families would have more time for one another if they were not so occupied with their gadgets or working hard to buy these gadgets.

  15. i think trying to live completely without technology would be foolish. One has to realise that there are many benefits in many areas.

however there are things that can be done in other areas and we should not be relying only on technology but remember we were given a brain and most of us are fortunate to have 2 arms and 2 legs and we need to utilise those when we can

  16. Of course.

I could definitely live without technology, in fact, I believe that the definition of technology [Things to help make human's lives easier] has gone too far. The definition seems to have become something more along the lines of "A system of things to make man-kind more and more lazy."

I love to play games outside pretending that there's no such thing as technology, I use rocks, sticks, trees, bushes, and everything avalible outside for my "tools" and "home".

    This was a fun question;]

  17. I would love to lie and say yes, but I'd probably starve or freeze to death, and i love my computer way to much.

  18. pshh no way i'm very dependent on electronics lol
