most def......they didn't have everything handed to them on a silver platter like now. they had to work for what they wanted......im not saying noone does now, im just saying not as many as 50 years ago

Easily. They had no IPod's, I Phones, video games systems, they actually had to get out and work as opposed to having everything handed to them. Resourcefulness was the key to survival back then.

FOR SURE!  It's not to say it's better or worse, but our culture shifted to a later progression into adulthood, probably resulting from longer life expectancy...

People marry later, higher education is much more common, and parents don't expect as much out of their children in terms of independence because it has become normal for young adults to stay or return home often until late twenties.

Absolutely.  Even 20 years ago.  There's no such thing as young adults today.  People are considered kids until they're 30 in today's society.
