  1. NO. because I don't want to be taken away from my parents. I don't like it,   and it probably does affect how I'm being brought up, but they're my parents and I'm looked after fine. Just because some parents smoke weed doesn't automatically mean they are bad parents and can't look after kids.

If it really badly affects the child and the parents neglect it, then yes, but a lot of parents neglect their children and it's nothing to do with marijuana.

So, for me, the answer is no. It does depend on the situation... but just because the parents smoke weed? No.

    I'm 14 and i'm fine =]

  2. Marijuana isn't even as harmful as alcohol and I know many, many people who use it while earning six figure incomes and raising wonderful families. We might as well go back to burning witches.

PS -- I just read some of the comments, and I can't believe how many offensive ignorant sheltered judgmental idiot prig holier-than-thou hayseeds there are here. Do they have any idea what happens, pyschologically and in practice, to a child that is taken away from its parents? And all for what, neglect or child abuse? No, the use of a drug that's less harmful than alcohol and that's oh so horribly illegal that something like 80% of the population has tried it. What's next, taking children away because Dad downloads MP-3's? I mean, it's illegal, and it sets a bad example. Shouldn't we take those children away?

  3. not sure it depends on if they provide everything the child needs befor going and getting a sack. If the stoner gives the child the attention it deserves while the parent is high???

  4. If they smoke it on their own time, no. But, if they smoke it around their children, then yes.

  5. i think if they sell it then yes, but if they are just casual smokers then no...Whats it hurting the kid?  Should people who drink alcohol have their kids taken away?  I know alcohol isn't illegal, but i think alcohol is more dangerous than pot...Whats the worse thing a parent who is high going to do?  Make popcorn and throw in half baked?  Kids like that stuff....

  6. No, I don't think kids should be taken away because their parents like to have a smoke.

I don't personally smoke it myself, but I know plenty of people who do and in no way are they bad parents.  Parents who drink  would worry me a lot more.

If people decide to have a joint, and it's away from their kids then I don't see what the big deal is.

  7. would you take the kids if the parents robbed banks? how about if they sold drugs? or committed murder? would you put your child on a school bus driven by someone who smokes pot?  it's all illegal and should all be treated equally when it comes to the welfare and safety of our children.

  8. Yes, and so should the children of alcoholics. They are bad parents and should not have children in the home to abuse, mistreat, and expose to drugs and alcohol.

  9. no

my dad does stuff, but im not dumb enough to do what he does.

he hides it but im not dumb

he does it out in the garage not around me or my brother and sisters.

  10. No, not unless they are doing it to the extent that they can't be a responsible parent. Ditto with drinking. Drinking is far more debilitating to the senses than MJ.

  11. isnt legal in cali?   idk but , maybe for other than medical reasons.that would be a yes...take the kids away after investigating

  12. my parents smoked pot and cigs around us growing up. so it doesn't bother me. so i don't know. they did not smoke in front of us when we were little and when i was in my teens, my dad and i smoked it together.

so no i don't think so. unless there is other drugs or it is done in extremes.

  13. it's not a smart decision but it is your own body to do what you please. but it has consequences...your kids could be taken if its in a car with you and they're there......endangering the welfare of a child.

if a pregnant woman smokes pot absolutely take the kid away...cause she obviously won't care once that baby is born about it's welfare if she didn't care when it was inside her

  14. Yes, I do. It isn't legalized, Yet. The law is the law. People shouldn't take or do things to hurt or could cause harm to others. Kids pick up on things, is this what you would want your children to end up doing? Think before reacting. Children learn what they live.

This is my answer, Mom of 2 grown children.

  15. it depends on whether they're doing it while the child is around. If they child is around, or even in the same house then yes, but if the child is not around and the parents are at a party of some sort then no the chid should not be taken away. I think alcohol is worse then marijuana and kids don't get taken away for parents having a couple drinks.

  16. Yeah. If the parent isn't reponsible enough to take care of themself then they are most likely not responsible enough to take care of a child. Exposing your child to any drugs is dumb.

  17. You know what i think that as a parent you shouldn't be doing things like that. I'm not going to lie I have tried it but I don't have any children. What an adult does that is their decision and they think they know what's best. I think it's stupid when they do it while the children are at home , which i know ppl do that. but if they want to do it some where else go ahed, but then when their children end up on the same road they only have themselves to blame.

  18. Yes they def. should, it's called illegal drug for a reason and impairs, your better judgment......eer your better judgment would be impaired to even do it as a parent imo!

  19. That could go either way, as you can see by some of the answers. I believe that if they do it in front of the kids than yes something should be done. There is no reason a child should be subjected to that. If they are doing it elsewhere and its not affecting their parenting, then hey its their life right.

  20. Do you consider alcohol a drug?  IT IS and it is worse than marijuana and children do not get taken away when a parent gets a drunk driving or two or three or even go to jail -  soooooo -

  21. I don't think any parent should be doing drugs.. Come on, time to grow up and get over yourself.

I am not sure if they should be taken away but they should have to go through rehab and stuff.

If they can't support thier kids because they are buying drugs then definatly yes because the problem is out of control and the parent is too selfish to even care about their child.

  22. No.

That's like saying that kids should be taken away from there parents because someone reported child abuse when no one is abusing anyone.

I do think, however, that if the parent is abusing the child when they smoke marijuana that the kid should be removed.

  23. Absolutely not!  Kids should be seperated from their parents for abuse and neglagence.  If a parent enjoys marijuana, and still provides a loving, nurturing, healthy environment for their child...then the pot is as much of an issue as beer, cigars, porno and other stress relievers that ADULTS enjoy.

And for those whos answer is merely: "Yes.  It's illegal."

It's actually not completely illegal...so don't generalize.  And furthermore, Speeding is illegal and causes way more death than marijuana.  Do you take the kids of a habitual speeder?  I didn't think so.

  24. not at all, the united states has the highest per capita marijuana smoking rate in the world.  It's a harmless drug as long as the parents are doing it responsibly and not subject their children to it.

  25. People who drink are much more of a concern actually there Big Brother. What about parents that smoke cancer causing cigarettes? What about one's who forget to close windows in high-rises and their kids fall out just because they are stupid, you wanna take them away also?

  26. If the parent constantly abuses it.... yes.

If the parents uses it on very rare ocassions when they are not with their child... I don't see how that would affect their parenting skills.

    Same goes for alcohol.

  27. It all depends on wetter you are smoking marijuana in front of your kids and they come in contact with the drug, if by smoking you in any way neglect you children, the the answer is YES.

  28. I really don't think kids should be taken away for that.

It's definitely not something I would do, but the only thing wrong with it is the parent is breaking an arbitrary law that the government made.

  29. it depends do they do it in front of the children are the kids being neglected because of it. Financially are they being taken care of? If the children are healthy and happy and in a loving environment then I see no problem if the parents smoke.

  30. Only if it leads to neglect or abuse.  Kids aren't taken away when parents commit other more serious crimes, so they shouldn't be taken away just because someone smokes.  Taking away children should only be done when the parents have proven themselves unwilling or unable to rear the child, and mere use of marijuana hardly lives up to that standard.  It may be poor parenting and could cause the child problems, but we also have to look at the alternative.  Most kids would both prefer and be better off by have loving but marijuana using parents than to be put into the state's foster care system to be cared for by a stranger.

  31. No--it is no different than drinking alcohol.  In fact Alcohol is the most used drug in our country.  Imagine how many kids would be taken away for that reason!
