Hey i was wondering what your opinion is on my question..

i think in some ways, money CAN buy happiness, because if youre not happy with the way you look, you can PAY for a gym membership, or plastic surgery. if you are not happy because you dont have enough food or water, you can BUY the things you need to stay alive!

the only time i think money cant buy happiness is when you have a life threatening disease and nothing can save you..

what do you think?

  1. definately not. true hapiness comes from God

    u cant buy God

  2. You are talking about material temporary flickering, illusory happiness by acquiring things for the pleasure of the body.

If that were the case, no reach man would commit suicide, cheat or kill the wife, etc.

Regarding food and water: God is giving food and water to millions of animals, why humans, who are more intelligent have this problem? We are created this problem for the same reason you are talking about. They, the animals, have no economic problem because they are depending completely on nature's law. And because we have violated nature's law, we have economic problems. We have created our economic problem.

Diseases are due to our unnatural life we are living now and due to the progress or our civilization(polluting everything)

As one cannot stop a blazing fire by constantly pouring fuel upon it, one cannot satisfy oneself by increasing plans for sense enjoyment.

We want to be happy in the material world, but this will never be possible; we shall simply increase the blazing fire of desires.

  3. Of course, money can buy happiness.  That's why no one aspires to live in poverty.  Nothing in life is free, not even the basic essentials you need to live. And I know from personal experience that having just enough money for the essentials isn't enough either.  Life gets very boring when you can't afford any luxuries to reward or entertain yourself.  That old adage that money doesn't buy happiness is BS used to placate the have nots.  If you disagree, give away all your money and things you bought with money and see how much happiness you have left.

  4. No.

Happiness is a state of being within a conscious mind.

One can not seek to purchase a state of mind.

Though the mind ultimately depends upon the body for its continued existence, its states of being can not be reduced completely to physical conditions alone.

Some peoples minds do not experience happiness simply form having certain physical conditions met.

Some people require abstract conditions in addition to physical needs to be met in order to arrive at that particular state of mind.

Thus to say that money can buy happiness and expect the statement to be valid for all persons is an example of a fallacy.

    At least for now.

  5. Happily Psychological wise people are the people with money, They make good fortune for their living, they get good income...

People who are usually stressed out of their lives, quick life expectancy, sadness and hunger usually comes from poverty or low income...

Its fact...Money does buy Happiness, I mean I'm ALWAYS Happy when I receive money

The only thing you should keep in mind, dont let money control you, you control money

  6. Of course it can.  It's really easy to buy happiness.  It's preserving happiness that's hard.  Discontentment is the Natural order of things.  Trying to find happiness is how ingenuity and creativity run work.  Money can be used to achieve that goal.  Not using money can as well.  It all depends on the person.  If money didn't make people at least a little happy, I don't think anyone would work more than they had to.

  7. Nothing can buy happiness.  Happiness is an emotion, therefore subject to changing.  Being Grateful and peaceful are the closest you will ever come and even those things change.  I would chose being grateful over happy any day.

  8. i suppose in some things you can. but what about love. you cant buy that. if you can live without love that i suppose you can by happiniess.

  9. Happiness is relative to everyone. if you were starved for weeks and someone gave you bread, youd be happy. but at the same time if you didnt get your car that your father promised you and instead got a motorcycle, youd be sad. in the end, happiness really depends on the perspective of the person.

but no i personally dont think money can buy happiness because after all money is just a medium of commerce and i dont think any material object can really create any lasting happiness.

i think people shouldnt be striving for happiness but more for tranquility or being content.

  10. I think so. I'm happiest when I'm listening to my iPod, or curled up in my bed. And I had to buy those things.

  11. If you have a life threatening disease then I think you didn't take good care of yourself. Therefore you dont like yourself!

  12. Of course not because I've never seen happiness for sale in a  department store or etc.

  13. Money can't buy happiness.

Ok whenever you purchase something new you're happy. But after a few days or weeks you aren't that excited anymore and sometimes those things you buy end up collecting dust in a cabinet, shelf,or in your garage or closet.

  14. No I don't think that money can buy happiness. Sure, money can be used to buy shelter, clothing, food, etc. But does that really make one happy? Think of all the rich people in the world, they even admit that they are unhappy, because they never feel satisfied with life.

  15. If money can't buy happiness, then it can sure prevent a lot of unhappiness.

I believe money can buy you things that make you happy, so yes.

However, most things that bring happiness can't be purchased, so it's relative.

Happiness is personal and what is good for one person might not make another person happy.

  16. My dear Keana...

Well....let me put it like this : What you've described (when you purchase a certain item, etc.) is  ONLY  a MOMENTARY "happiness", which will evade ...real quick, honey..My girlfriend is the BEST example for it...She has quite a "bit of money"...constantly buys... "things"...is soooo consume-orientated...-she just bought her 3rd living-room-set for  THIS YEAR....-and we're only "in July"- WHY does she constantly buy "new things"??? Because : she's  N O T  HAPPY  with "what she's got"...and she constantly needs "the next kick"...(worse than a junkie)...FOR REAL!!! She has soooo many "things"...last week she drove-up with a brand-new ...BMW-Sports-Coupé...even though her "old one" was just 1 yr. "old"...-I mean, she is NEVER  satisfied / happy with ...-anything- & constantly searches for...MORE... -YET- I tell you "a secret"... I don't have a "tenth" of her "accumulations", but.... I AM HAPPY INSIDE & CONTENT within me !!! It makes me happy to be of some help to "other's" here at Yahoo & I don't "earn a penny" by giving advice, yet... it makes me feel GOOD to "get a reply" -or- a nice message sent....That's what life is all about...relating & sharing with others !!! Happiness can  NEVER  be "bought"....it's an inner feeling of contentment one can  N O T  achieve by buying any..."goods" !!!

I wish you all the best for the future & many HAPPY, FULFILLING moments in your life!!! Greetings from Germany with lots of love...Annette***

  17. This is one of the most overestimated concepts of our time. The  notion that money equals happiness.

In May of 2007 issue of Newsweek magazine, an article was published on the subject of "What makes us Happy" and not surprisingly many people expected money to be the primary ingredient. However, according to a field of top researchers: international psychologist, sociologist, biologist, and economist. This common assumption was proven to be invalid. Recent studies show that once people have enough to meet their basic needs, then money ceases to make us happier.

The problem is that once we receive pleasure from something or someone, our desire for it goes away. And therefore it no longer carries any appeal to us. Just like when were hungry and desire food, but once we get it, food is no longer important to us. The same goes with all our other desires. We move from one desire to the next, in a constant cycle of seeking pleasures i.e. happiness.
