  1. Here is a great piece concerning this question:

  2. If I get a taxi home from Tesco's & the driver helps me carry my shopping to the front door then yes I will tip. Although I never tip if they start driving before my child has her seatbelt plugged in.

With pizza or Chinese delivery I usually let them keep the change.

  3. Pizza men always gets about 1.50-2.00 pounds.  Black taxi drivers, I give about a pound as you will never find a poor black taxi driver in London.

I must admit, I do hate tipping as I never know what is right, but for sure, in restaurants I tip.  If I get bad service, they will get nothing and for good service I have given up to 10 pounds. I know they don't earn much but sometimes eye contact is all you need!

  4. A delivery man I will tip out of courtesy....but no way will I give one extra penny to a taxi driver with their charges!!

  5. I tip either if I feel like it or can afford to or am impressed enough. I pay whatever seems right at the time. I do not feel rude if I don't tip. xx

  6. good service usually means to tip, provided theyre not charging for it seperately

  7. Home food deliveries I give the change unless it is only a few pence. In that case I give a pound. Taxis I usually tip but if they are nasty about the amount I report them to to local authority.

  8. 1. Ten per cent (apprx) for the Cabbie. (Provided he doesn't lock you in and threaten to drive to a............... Police Station.) 2. Words for the PDM (W or B)  in terms of "keep the change you filthy animal!" (With Jimmy Cagney in the background firing and howling "top 'o the world Ma; top 'o the world.")

  9. its not rude not to tip, but its nice to do so. I give around 80p to them   and a bit more to polite, efficient waiters

  10. SOMETIMES!

and anyway what has this to do with "dining out"?

  11. i dont give much,like a dollar or two

  12. i usually give them a couple of quid depending on how polite they are.I know its rude not 2 but if they come across as rude or turn up late i reckon that cancels the rudeness issue out.

  13. i only do about $3-5 for a pizza which is rasonably good

  14. Taxi Drivers and Pizza Delivery people receive low salaries because management says that they make up for it with tips. It's the right thing to do. You will better understand if you ever had to work for tips.

  15. i tip if they get wot i want or where i want fast lol i tip about £2:50 or the change and no its not rube not 2 tip cause its the payers descresion if they want 2.

  16. Watch the "tip speech" in the opening sequence of Tarantino's "Reervoir Dogs" for more information

  17. i do if they are chattie and friendly

    1/ 2pounds ? :)

  18. i tip about 10 to delivery guys..not because im insane..just because i mean..they really really dont make that much money....and they have to pay for thier own gas and they are driving to give you the food...

it just makes them feel really good when they get a good tip here and there...why not be the person to give them that smile?

and taxi drivers make a **** load..no tip lol..

  19. YES AND YES.  HOW MUCH DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH IS SPENT AND HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE AVAILABLE.

IF YOU AIN'T BROKE THEN YES IT IS RUDE NOT TO TIP IF THE SERVICE WAS GOOD.

  20. Hello Feo9 21

In answer to your question regarding giving a tip.

The answer is yes, generally it would be rude to have a meal delivered and not give the person a tip.

Although we all have different levels of income, and that may dictate the amount of tip that we give.

Here is an example and true to life. As you have probably gathered I am British, but live in USA. I used to be a taxi driver many years ago, I gave good service, helped people with their shopping, ensured children had fastened their seat belts and so on. At the end of the journey I never expected to receive a tip, but was always very appreciative when the customers gave me a tip.

Generally speaking, if you live in England and have received good service from a waiter, taxi driver, hairdresser etc it would be customary to leave about a 10% tip. On the other hand, we used to pick up lots of elderly people who would use our taxi service many times a week, I personally would not take a tip from regular users of our taxi service.

I now live in the USA, and it seems the normal to leave about a 15% to 20% tip for the service industry, and I do not have a problem with that.

By the way, not sure where you are from, but if you drink in the bars in England, you are not expected to leave a tip, perhaps offer to buy the bar tender a drink, unlike America were the 15% rule or custom would apply.

Hope this has helped, and if I ever need to take a job as a delivery guy, hope I would not have to deliver to your address LOL.

    Paul M

  21. Of course. About a pound for a pizza man and two pounds for a taxi.
