Do you tip when you eat from a self-serve food bar?

No. Do you tip when you go to fast food restaurant. No the only place you should be tipping is where the person takes your order and brings the food to your table. I hate places such as "Dirty Bird" when you talk to one person at the start to order drinks, another takes your order, two different people bring you food, and somewhere in between everyone else who works there asks if you want refills. But then at the end of the night the person who took you're order and dipped out back for a toke says they will be the cashier at which you end up hunting down another person to pay the bill. But hey that is typical of most chain restaurants. I only tip people who work for true restaurants.

Someone still has to replenish the food bar and clean up your mess.  I usually leave a dollar or two per person.
