  1. Yes, because in most cases it is a server answering the phone, taking your order, giving it to the cook and getting it bagged up and checking to make sure nothing was forgotten.  People fail to realize that this takes them away from the customers they actually have there in the restaurant.  I guess they think the magic to go order fairy does it all.

The best thing to do is to ask who took the order and prepared it.  Then tip them.

And you need to be especially generous if you fequently order to go from the same place.  They remember names.  And they are handling your food.  You be cheap if you want, I would rather show my gratitude for those who took the time from their other customers to get my order placed and readied.  But then, I was raised with manners and learned to appreciate others.

  2. yes you should tip them. I know what goeson with them the host picks up the phone and does the to go orders. It tough they set up the napkin the food from the kicthen. And after they wait for you to come and get your food for you. Me i would tip at least maybe 2 bucks or 3 bucks just to show them you approve there generoisty

  3. we never do,

who would you be tipping anyways?

    i just wouldnt.

  4. No, I don't. I agree with you completely.

  5. YES you do tip! I am a waitress, and we answer the phone as well, and we take the togo orders. We don't cook the food, but we have to bag it, check it to make sure it's correct, we have to make sure you have the condiments, and if there are drinks involved, we have to get them. Where I work, we have to do the salads or soups, dessert, beverage. We are taking time from our TIPPING tables to get your food.

If I know a person doesn't tip for togo food, you can bet your sweet bottom that I won't check it, and I will "forget" something. Not the actual food, but napkins, utensils, whatever I can. Sometimes we do more for a togo order than the actual tables.

You don't have to leave 15% but a buck or two would be nice. If you don't want to tip, then go to McDonalds.
