Do you trust Argos?

I think they get more and more orginal every year in terms of content and great for value for money, however what do you really think of the quality of some of the goods, particulary the more expensive stuff, e.g over £100.

If you are blindly ordering something be it from store to be delivered or online, do you really know what you are getting.

Im saying this as once you get something big delivered like a piece of furniture etc and it turns out to be c**p quality or not as nice as the picture suggests how many people actually make the effort to return it? especially if its something flat packed that you have spent ages building yourself.

Have you bought anything from them which was exceptionally good which you maybe couldn't of bought in another store?

...or something that was utterly c**p which you could of bought elsewhere and wished you'd paid a bit extra?

  1. Yep...Argos ROCKS!

  2. Yes, I bought a shower from there that was defective and they changed it right away, also an electric kettle and they changed that with no hassle at all for a better one (I paid the difference) I trust them. I have seen jewellery there cheaper than elsewhere too.

  3. we bought a flat pack sideboard 5 years ago and its still standing!!  It was cheaper than other shops and better quality than ikea.  Also got bunk beds for the kiddies from argos and they were delivered very quickly, all parts complete and overall very happy with service.  Again much cheaper than other shops for same quality!!

  4. my mum bought bunk beds from argos which come in 2 different bozes (top and bottom bed) but when it was dleivered we got 2 of the same box. It took argos ages to pick up the box and deliver the correct one, whilst we had to live with 2 huge boxes in a small living room for weeks.

never bought anything also big like that from argos ever again

  5. Yea to be honest, I just moved house after xmas, and needed alot of new furniture, and so opted for alot of cheaper products from argos, to save money, but the bed, wardrobes and coffee table that we bought are not very good quality at all, and we have had to do things to help strengthen them up a bit. i.e. extra battons etc. I have been quite dissappointed but as I have not got alot of money this was the only option I had to ensure that I could afford all the things that I needed. I do think that it is wrong though, because at the end of the day I still spent alot of money on these items, £200 on two wardrobe sets, and £250 on a bed, and they should still be good quality, but they are not. I had a couple of smaller items replaced because of the quality, but after putting wardrobes etc together you just cannot be bothered to take them apart and send the back. Argos are ok for most things, but I think I will stop buying furniture from them in future.

  6. Argos - in my opinion - do mediocre very well and at good prices. None of their stuff is truly terrible and their brand name goods are at similar prices to the best and most obscure online stores.

Personally I'm quite a git at shopping and if something was utter c**p, I would have no problem with asking for my money back.

  7. i have bought all sorts from Argos via the web for pick up and for delivery.

i tend to find the power tools are c**p and they die in a couple a months but if you pay for the 1 year cover, they are great you just take it back and they replace it no questions ask.

i have bought a folding door from them and it was broke inside the box, i returned it no problems.

as for the large items, never had a problem  other then could not understand the instruction that came with it lol.

i find them good value for money but i do shop about first and buy the cheapest of what i want, with so many places on line to shop Argos is not my first choice for stuff

    regards x kitti x

  8. No , not anymore . My mother-in-law bought a dab radio for £50 . She returned it within a week ( not working ), the girl ( who works for argos ) checking the contents scratched the back when pulling it out of the box . The manager refused to refund because of the damage ! The damage that was caused by an argos employee ! She's a pensioner , she can't afford to lose £50 on a c**p & damaged radio .

  9. I bought a leather suite off them and it is beautiful and the quality is fantastic - I have spent a fair bit of money over the years in Argos and for the kids Christmas presents and have never had to return anything to them :-)

  10. Oh my god I hate Argos with a passion, I once ordered a sideboard and I told them I lived down a long narrow lane and a big lorry wouldnt fit they said it was fine and would send out a smaller van. On the day of delivery they rang me to say they lorry wouldnt fit down my mile lane and if i wanted it they would unload it at the end of my lane!!! There so slow to deliver and I have even been charged for goods that were never delivered and they refused to give me a refund it took 3 months to get my money back!!!! Rant over!!

  11. Argos have always been there for everybody and their prices have always been fair & reasonable for what they offer. It's never cutting edge technology but it never really goes out of date either because they do update their catalogue 4 times a year. But and this is a big BUT, the internet will eventually see off Argos because a whole new generation of kids are growing up used to ordering off the internet. When those kids become adults they just won't be used to using Argos and that will see it off. There will always be a need for people to buy something right now today, but stores like Argos, Currys & Dixons won't be as needed as they are now. It's the same as people turning away from M&S to Next - it will happen for sure. Small electrical retailers will always be around but the big boys won't be so big in years to come and some will disappear.
