Do you trust Preachers????

The farmer was out working in his field, about a half mile from his house.

In the distance, he sees his six year old son running to him. When the son arrives, he tells his father that a preacher has showed up unannounced. The father asks his son which local preacher it is. The son responds that he hasn't seen him before.

The farmer tells his son that he has a little more work to do before he can head back to the house.

He tells his son to go back to the house and ask the preacher if he is a Methodist. If he says yes, then go hide the fried chicken that his mom is making.

If the preacher says he is a Pentecostal, then the son is to go hide his moonshine.

If the preacher says that he is a Baptist, the son is to sit on his mother's lap until he gets there!

  1. I haven't trusted preachers, priests, ministers, rabbis, imams, swamis, or whatever clergy are called these days.  They're all riding the gravy train.  Tax 'em all, I say.

  2. The joke is an oldie but a goodie.

I don't trust preachers most are full of hot air.

  3. I really don't trust all preachers. Some of them are legit, others just want money, then others just look at the women with x ray eyes while they preach.

  4. Only after I get to know them and then with reservation.

Yes the church branded Copernicus, et al., as "heretics."

In more modern times, the likes of Jerry Falwell, John Hagee and Rev. Phelps have left an indelible mark.

  5. Don't like pentecostals. The first divorce in my extended family came from a pentecostal conversion.

  6. I loved this one Sid - hope you do not get into trouble for it!  (I live in the buckle of the Bible Belt) - - -  Thanks for the laugh!      CJ

    Have a star!

  7. I am cautious of preachers.

  8. Oh, It that so... what a joke. I don't know about that.

  9. It's Baptist for the fried chicken and catholic for the mothers lap. Funny joke though. Ha. No I don't trust them. Didn't the the church  label Copernicus and Galileo heretics ? http://filer.case.edu/sjr16/pre20th_euro...

  10. For my sensibilities, any entity that's incorporated, tax exempt - IS - no longer what I would call a religion or at least any thing I would care to bow down to and I get a big kick out of watching these TV preachers,(shysters), warp and distort passages from the bible to there own ends, (money - money and more money).

Now the above said, I know there are a very few, (only a few), devout individuals who actually live by the teachings of the bible, other religions as well, who I hold in highest respect, DEEDS NOT WORDS.

  11. There is a lot of truth in that old joke.  I do trust preachers to lead the worship services, conduct funerals and perform wedding ceremonies.  Unfortunately preachers are subject to the same temptations and sins as the rest of us.  I've known a few who were true saints and several who were not.
