Do you trust the American government?

What are your thoughts of the killing of JFK and his brother Bobby, the Vietnam war, how we used countries as pawns during the cold war.

Do you think the government has your best interest in mind?

  1. Too many way different questions.

Do I trust the Government?  Absolutely - I can predict with meta-physical certainty how it will behave in any situation.  In that sense, it is completely trust-able.

Do I think the Government has my best interest in mind?  NO.  I know the government has IT'S best interest in mind.  Sometimes our interests coincide.  Sometimes they don't.  When our interest's diverge, I simply do what I need to do, and hope they don't catch me.  It's called Civil Disobedience.

    I heartily recommend it.

  2. I absolutely do not trust the American government.  America was founded on the principle of mistrust in government.  Before the American Revolution, the ruling British abused their power by taxing us heavily and taking away our rights.  Sadly, the American government is doing these same things today.   In conclusion, the government should fear the people, not the other way around.

As far as the killings of JFK and Bobby go, it can be reasonably inferred that the assassins were political enemies.  However, this does not confirm that either or both were communist conspiracies.  In fact, Bobby's murderer was strongly anti-Zionist and I hardly believe that this event had anything to do with the communist conspiracy.  For Kennedy, I honestly have no idea.

I think the Vietnam conflict was carried out incorrectly.  We forcibly installed a dictatorship in South Vietnam that was equally oppressive as the communist government in the North.  When it came time to fight, we let the politicians control the war, not the military.  Consequently, we suffered a humiliating loss.   Later during the Cold War, we supported the Taliban in Afghanistan in response to Soviet aggression there.  There were other nations such as Nicaragua we used as pawns to stop the spread of communism.

Although we are a representative republic, I do not think that the government has our best interests in mind.  In my opinion, many if not most politicians hold office in pursuit of power.  They rig the system so they are constantly reelected with large margins until criminal convictions force them out of office (ex. Ted Stevens of Alaska).  They restrict our personal freedoms and therefore expand the role of government into our lives.  I highly doubt that our society will prosper most under a strong government.  Just look at the former Soviet Union or North Korea.  If they really had our best interests at heart, they would work to decrease the size of government and grant us more control over our own lives.

  3. It is the best government around, as long as we do not become socialist,Christ Opposed Socialism calling for Charity instead.

  4. Its like your ugly kid, you love it just the same as if she was beautiful.

America has showed thorough the years the founding fathers principals that are honored by every nation in the world,

The free world wants to just like us, love us and respect us too.

They want our money, inventions, industry

  5. I agree with Timmy & the Almost Shady Guy beneath him.

  6. I stopped trusting the government, when they stopped fearing the people.

The government should exist in fear of the people, that is what keeps the government running true for the people.  It hasn't been fearful of the people for a long time...

  7. I trust the government as much as I trust a pedophile with a bag of candy and a shady van.

All jokes aside, I do believe that we do have one of the best trusted government's in the world and of history, but I still do not trust that the governing officials have the best interest for us.

  8. It's our role to elect governments, not trust them. So no, I don't trust any government.

'The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.' - Thomas Jefferson

  9. I trust my government to do what is in its peoples best interest -- whether that means lying to us about how they are preventing attacks or how they hunt down people or sending our troops on peace keeping missions.  The minute I believe that our government no longer has our best interests then it is time to vote in a new government.

  10. I know Im gonna get thumbs down because the Majority of people on YA seem to hate the U.S., but I do trust our government.
