Do you trust the spell checker?

I grew up in Wasteland, in the English Lake District. My mother was a Lancaster and my father was a Scourer. When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, I was living in Hmong Kong, but it was many years later that I heard of Asama bin Laden.

  3. It has some astonishing glitches and has an editorial bias (e.g. it highlights "Google",) but on the whole I find it excellent.  It even gives the correct spelling of the names of famous people.

    Because I am a Canadian subscriber it highlights the American spelling that I deliberately use to answer American askers, but I don't mind that at all.

    Yahoo always tries to change the word obama into ABM. I think they are trying to tell us something.

  6. No, the spell checker misses most things.

    Won find day, their were fife beers, all with a wroth on top.

    The above single line sentence makes very little sense, yet the spell checker will pass it instantly as okay.

    I prefer to check any of my doubtful spellings with the Oxford English Dictionary !
