  1. The things that were being used around the turn of the century, as technology progressed and before the automobile became Americas darling, were pretty amazing. But then we got one simple way of doing things (the car) and it was supported by the government and popular opinion, and thus the entire diverse range of transportation technologies disappeared to remove competition from the automobile.
