Just for context, if you answer "Yes" to any of the following statements, you do not understand evolution, and your answer to my question is "No".

Do you have any of the following ideas about evolution:

1. Claims that man evolved from monkeys.

2. Happens quickly enough for direct, visual observation.

3. Has something to do with the origin of life.

4. Has something to do with the origin of the universe.

5. Claims that one member of a species will spontaneously give birth to a completely different species.

6. There is any doubt in the scientific community about whether evolution has occured and is occuring.

  1. Yes , Perfectly. Micro evolution which is variation/adaptation inside a species is  an observable fact in the fossil record and in living animals today.. Macro evolution which is the evolution of one species into another by supposed mutation/natural selection is a theory . So far it has not been observed in any manner , neither in the fossil record nor in living animals.   There is no evidence, none, zero, zip, nada that macro evolution has ever occurred or will ever  occur. In other words  macro evolution is a lie.  That pretty much sums it up except for this true statement ......  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  2. Um, I'm sorry, as an evolutionary biologist I have to say that anyone who claims that evolution never "Happens quickly enough for direct, visual observation." doesn't understand evolution.

Yes, it sometimes does. Evolution is the change in the relative frequency of alleles in a population over time. If all my dominant-trait fruit flies fail to breed, I can see that, no problem.

And, in your additional comments you're using microevolution as defined by Creationists, not as we use it. FYI. See creationist (non-scientific) definitions below.

  3. Yes.

  4. 1. No.

    2. Yes, although they are minute changes.

    3. No!

    4. No.

    5. Lol, No!

    6. There is always doubt in the scientific community.  Evolution is always challenged, and always withstands the challenges placed upon it.

  5. Yes, I have taken the time to actually read up on evolution.  I do not hold a degree in biology, however I have bought and read several books about evolution written by biologists, read a number of scientific journals and papers in journals that were about evolution, and quite a few web pages too.  I think it's a fascinating subject.  It sure forced me to learn many vocabulary words way beyond layman's terms, though.

I don't concur with some of the wording you've chosen, but I get what you're trying to say.

  6. Yes, I understand evolution.

Deist with a B.A. Degree in Anthropology (Archaeology)

Evolution is scientific theory and a fact.

  7. Yes, I do understand evolution and because of that understanding I accept it.

  8. While most of my info on evolution came from college biology at the most basic level, I do have a pretty good grasp on the theory.  I could never call myself an expert, but seem to understand more than the average individual.

I hope I can help anyone who has any questions.

  9. It would have been more sensible to just put the statements up, ask responders to give a Yes or No answer to whether they agree ... *then* tell people what their answers mean. As it is, everyone will simply say they disagree with all of them.

    Here are my answers.

    1. Complete BS; firstly, it was apes ... and *both* evolved from a common ancestor - proto-primates, as I like to call them.

    2. You can observe it, but the changes are so small that they're insignificant in the larger gene pool. My appendix will be fractionally smaller than my parents, but not noticably - it'll only be in a few million years that the change will be seen.

    3. Evolution explains the continuation of life, not it's origin; for that, you need abiogenesis.

    4. No. Just ... no. Evolution concerns life, the origin in the universe concerns physical laws.

    5. Just one? There is no single genome for any species - all members have 'snips' in them, which explain variation.

    6. Actually, there are doubts. They're not serious, credible doubts that threaten to plunge the whole theory into a black hole ... but they exist.

I think the question should maybe be do *you* understand evolution? There are flaws in most of your statements.

  10. You should have mentioned that the notion that man evolved from apes was in fact the heart of evolution until it was recently proven to be false.

Thumbs down?  It's a true statement regardless of your position on evolution.  DNA tests recently showed that man and apes are not directly related but until then evolutionists believed they were.  I wonder who really understands evolution.

  11. The guy in the cowboy hat is right. You sure do have a high opinion of your own intelligence. Get real and grow up. God did it.

  12. The only one that isn't true is numbers 3 and 4. The rest are all true, at least some in belief form. If you don't believe me in number 2, I suggest YOU study how they observe misquitos and flies. And if you don't believe number 5, I suggest you revisit the laughable concept of abiogenesis.

However, can you define evolution, without looking it up? Is evolution true? Sure is! Adaptation, interbreeding, mutation. Is the macroevolutionary religion that science fabricated and forces upon us in our schools true? Certainly not. Evidence and logic prove it false.

    * I know abiogenesis is not evolution. Yet for macroevolutionary theory to work, abiogenesis must be mentioned. Just keep conveniently ignoring this fact. That is the atheist version for your phrase 'goddidit' isn't it? It EVOLVED!!!!! Lol. Illogical apes....

  13. yes, but some people seems not too much 'evolved'
