  1. Well it's true that anti virus seems a little dumb because most of today's nasty threats are designed to avoid detection by anti virus software. But still i don't take any chances.

  2. yea you need one as LONG WITH A FIREWALL TO, BUT YOU DON'T REALLY NEED A VIRUS SCANNER IF YOU DON'T GO ON STUPID WEBSITES ;|

  3. nope, you don't need jack if you actually understand how windows works and have the tiniest amount of common sense.

  4. Do you  use internet?

If you do then you are dumb.

Internet browsing will bring in viruses. That will teach you not to take antiviruses for granted.

Worse still if you do not use Internet on your comp but bring Internet downloaded files from public cybers. They are the store houses of viruses of all kinds.

You are putting your comp to good risk.

God must be taking care of your comp.

  5. Yes, i use SAV32....its small, ugly, and fast and out of the way and it offers basic protection. Detection+quarantine.

For bigger problems that are over the head of SAV, I use super anti spy ware.

  6. Back when I used Windows I'd occasionally run a virus check, just to be sure.  But because I knew what I was doing I didn't have viruses to find.

Now that I'm on GNU/Linux there's just no point.  The only reason to run anti-virus under Linux is to protect Windows users when sharing files, this OS just doesn't have the vulnerabilities that that one does.

Besides, like X said, I prefer to use my cycles for more useful processes.

  7. No, I don't use antivirus software. I like to use my PC's resources for better processes.
