  1. Artificial sweeteners are not healthy at all.  I don't drink soda and I avoid all products containing Splenda, Aspertame, or other artificial sweeteners.   Very good article on the effects of artificial sweetener:  http://www.pacifichealthcenter.com/updat...

Sugar is also not healthy for you.  (59 reasons why sugar ruins your health)  http://www.pacifichealthcenter.com/updat...

Though sugar is harder to avoid in pre-packaged foods.

I find Stevia to have a bad aftertaste.  That could just be me personally, but I prefer pure maple syrup or xylitol - which is a nutural sugar already in your body and also produced by plants  http://www.xylitol.org/

  2. Artificial sweetener is disgusting. It increases the amount of fromaldahyde in the brain. Most are also 200 x's sweeter than regular sugar (but when you buy it at the store it has various fillers in it so that the measurements are still proportional). Buy unrefined organic sugar. It is tan in color, but it is the EXACT same sugar.

  3. Sugar can be vegan if it's the non bone char variety. I buy granulated beet sugar. Anyway, I try to stay away from artificial sweeteners because I don't think they are all the good for you. I have to admit, I do drink an occasional diiet soda or diet iced tea. They can cause health issues too. http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-sid...

  4. Not anymore. I used to be a heavy diet soda drinker until recently I watched this film called Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World:

I'd go for plant-based sweetener such as Agave Nectar. I still consume organic sugar since it's more natural than man-made sweeteners. I think sugar is fine, although some say that it can be processed with animal byproducts.

  5. I do not consume Aspartame.  Just the fact that pilots are warned not to consume it because of increased risk of grand mal seizures is enough for me!

Chemical sweeteners are not natural.  I avoid consuming unnatural things if I can.

  6. I don't use artificial sweetener and I don't add sugar to anything. Like Krister said above, I don't think sweeteners are that healthy- they're artificial and it's best to avoid them whenever possible.

Some refined white sugars are filtered through bone char, but naturally occuring sugars are found in most foods so sugar in some form is unavoidable.

Agave nectar is a good vegan sweetener. :)

  7. I don't know technically how it is processed as far as veganism goes, but there is a plant derived calorie free sweetner called stevia that can be used, it's pretty good.

although I myself use splenda, but then I am not a vegan.

  8. Agave nectar is good and has fewer calories than honey which is not a vegan food. Sugar however is fine. So is Equal, Splenda and Sweet 'n' Low.

  9. Why don't you just get raw sugar? You can bake with it just fine and use it for anything you'd use the sugar that's gotten the bone char to be white.

  10. I use stevia, honey or brown rice syrup to sweeten stuff

  11. Some sugar isn't but most organic ones are.I would never use artificial sweetners.I use stevia or agave nectar instead

  12. Artificial sweetener is unnatural and toxic so I think that sucrose is a much better choice.

Sugar does not contain any animal products. SOME white sugars use animal substances in the process just like everything else that the average urban or suburban dweller buys and uses.

They say that Splenda is good because "it's made from sugar" but I've tried it and it made my mouth feel and taste like I had been puking .

  13. stevia is best.  If you can't find that, get splenda.  If you don't want to give up sugar try unbleached cane sugar or dehydrated and granulated cane juice.  If you can find sugar labeled "beet sugar" it is safe.  Cane sugar requires a purification process that requires activated carbon and over half of the US cane refineries use animal char (charcoal made from animal bones).
