I have seen many Caucasians tourists in Asian using chopsticks to pick up grains of rice from the plate painstakingly, instead of using spoon and fork. Why?

  1. Rice in Asia is most often served in a bowl. I have lived in Asia almost 7 years. I've never seen it served on a plate yet.

  2. Cuz that's how we do it here in America. We eat rice with chop sticks. LOL We want to be cool and cultured. Also lack of knowledge has to do alot with it.

  3. i dont. i use my hands.

  4. Trying to fit in, but proper way is to use chopsticks like a shovel and scoop rice into mouth.

  5. they probably think all asian dish must be eaten with chopsticks.

  6. People in India never use chopsticks for eating a plate of rice.

  7. Yes I do. I'm English and live in Korea with my husband so do it just about everyday. Some do, some don't (they use a spoon).  It's actually really easy. They are probably using the wrong technique. Chopsticks need to be held at a certain angle which most people including myself lolol xx get wrong to start off with. Once you get it right you can pick up almost alnything. The only thing I haven't mastered yet is a marble although some can even do that.

  8. i'm not a japanese, chinese, korean nor taiwanese, but i enjoy eating with my chopsticks!

i love to eat using my sticks!

    lmao
