  1. Hi there. This is Kristina, David and Rio -- the founders of www.myJambi.com. Great question!

First off -- we never sell our users’ information to third parties.  Ever.

So. That being out of the way, let us tell you a little bit about what myJambi is all about.  myJambi was started by three college friends.  While in school, we noticed that students are typically pretty good at tutoring math, babysitting, helping out with household chores, teaching the piano, or waitressing a party, but don’t have an easy time finding jobs to make extra cash.  (Sounds a bit like you, actually.)

So we set out to make a community for buying and selling services, where talented people like you can promote their skills and find new jobs online. Buying and selling services is all about trust.  You have to get a good sense of just who that other person is before you start working with them. Same goes for the person who is looking to hire you!  So fill in your profile (which is visible to registered members only), post a resume, photos, and references. And most importantly, start working with people on the site, so that you can build a reputation through myJambi’s rate-and-review system.  Once you’ve worked with someone, you start garnering (hopefully positive!) reviews and you get to review the client, too.  Talk about accountability!  You do a good job, you establish a good reputation, you get more jobs.

By the way, we think Ed Atun's answer above is pretty spot-on, too. The best way to make a little extra cash is through jobs referred by friends and family.  In fact, myJambi is all about that idea.  We want our users to tap into their trusted network of family, friends, and friends-of-friends to find new jobs and/or new service providers.  So go ahead and bring your friends with you – and see what services they offer or what they need help with.  You can invite your e-mail address book to myJambi and in just another few weeks, you’ll be able to bring all of your Facebook friends with you, too.  It sure beats calling around to find out if anyone knows of a good part-time gig!

We hope that helps.  If you have any further questions, please let us know at support[at]myjambi[dot]com.  We’ll be happy to answer them.

We think you would add a lot to our growing community.  We’d be thrilled to see you on myJambi!

    All the best,

    Rio, David and Kristina

  2. .     You are smart to be skeptical.  You get the best babysitting jobs from friends and family.  Same with tutoring.  Some of the online sites sell your personal info for $100.  Then you get bombarded with emails and letters for 2 years.
