I want to replace my Quickutz hand tool with something more substantial, a revolution perhaps, are any die cutting machines able to use another manufacturer's dies ?

Can you use quickutz dies on any other machine other than the revolution ?

  1. The Revolution is a very good choice. The range of dies is not as wide as I would like but there are new ones coming out every month. If you are using die-cuts a lot particularly alphabets it would be better to save up and buy the Quickutz Silhouette. This is over £200 but it is like a printer you hook up to your computer and you can cut any font in any size your want and it will also cut clip art and scanned images and there are various other things you can do like making all the letters join together. As a set of alphabet dies can cost over £100 this is much better value. You only need to buy a replacement blade when needed and there are optional downloads you can buy.

You can use other manufacturers dies in some instances. You can get a special convertor to use Sizzix dies in Quickutz machines and I have used some Wizard dies as they are. I will be interested to see what other answers you get.

  2. I replaced my Sizzix Sidekick with a Spellbinders Wizard machine and love it. The Wizard is suitable for all other types of dies (except Sizzix Sizzlits extended cuts) and also allows you to use embossing stencils and crush bottlecaps etc.

So far I've used the following dies in mine with no problem:

    Sizzix Sizzlits and normal dies

    Quickutz

    Bosskut

Accucut thin and the thick wooden ones

    Cuttlebug

The Wizard is quite heavy and not exactly cheap but I can't fault it for cutting all the dies I have. It's easy to use once you've read the instructions and doesn't end up hurting your wrists (even for me with fibromyalgia). I got mine 2nd hand from eBay. The Spellbinders range of dies is also lovely.

  3. If you go to Provocraft site , it tells you that you can use other makes of dies in their Cuttlebug. They even have a sandwhich information for all makes of dies that Cuttlebug uses, including quickutz..
