Vegas doesnt have a very good transportation system. So I dont use it here. However in other cities such as Denver and San Diego, all I ride is the public buses and light rail systems. I wish Vegas would get it together and get something like it installed but I think its too late.

  1. Its never too late.  Vegas Public Transportation needs competition so that they straighten up their act, or loose their business contract with the city.(or State) Someone in the Legislation needs to encourage more business competition.  Bottom Line.

Also, the need for Public Transportation will encourage transportation companies to come in and compete.

The website source below lists projects and journals for every state.  When you go into the trb website,  search for "Las Vegas Public Transportation."

The second website is research done by the SC Walk and Roll Transportation Library

    Very informative

  2. Yes, I live in the biggest city outside of PIttsburgh.  Yes I use it everyday to go to the mall, the bank, the restuarant, the hospital, the doctors office.  I thought they had 24 hour transportaion in Vegas.

  3. Virginia Beach public transit is much akin to trying to pick up women in an g*y bar... Nobody in their right mind would try. (other than a select few/desperate.)

  4. I work for the Colorado DOT and the Denver area is moving very fast towards building transit oriented communities.  The citizens recently approved spending for Fast Tracks which will be building light rail all across the metro area.  One big problem we have too many SOVs (Single Occupancy Vehicles).  Somehow we have to try to change the American culture of everyone driving alone.

CDOT is about to issue EcoPasses to all employees in January.  I will then take it at least once a week.  If everyone were to do the same, congestion and carbon output would be reduced tremendously.  Save the world and RIDE THE BUS and Train folks!!

  5. Sometime I go on the bus.

  6. I live in the country and have no public transportation available.  However, where public transportation is available and reasonably good I use it almost exclusively.

  7. 50/50 for me (NYC).

Often I notice that heavily tourist town does NOT have public transportation. I use to live in Maui and we didn't ANY public transportation.  It was widely known that the rental car company fought to ban the public transportation.

On the main island (Ohau) they have no choice because of traffic congestion.  Other "outer" islands also lack public transportation.

    Good question and  Good Luck
