Do you use the club anti theft device? How to prevent auto theft?

I seen on youtube.com that they can be picked within 2 minutes. Also online they sell a 12 key burglary tool for $18.00 that can turn on any car within seconds. Yet i still use a club & have a alarm on my 2006 beamer. Basically my friend says to drive a cheap car to work because it is left unattended for 8 hrs & drive the nice car on short trips & park it in the garage. Can auto theft be prevented or are we at the mercy of auto thieves?

having a chauffer is the only prevention tip i can think of.

  1. The newer BMWs ignition systems are pretty sophisticated.  It is highly unlikely that they will be able to break into your car and steal it.  They may steal your ipod, but not your car. They need the key.  If they really want your car they will use a flatbed.

The alarm will let you know if someone is trying to steal your stuff (maybe), but most people ignore them.

The club will do nothing... they are VERY easy to defeat.

I worry more about my car getting dinged, scratched, etc. by idiots than I do about it getting stolen.

  2. Someone can steal your car using a flatbed tow truck......There's no stopping a determined thief. BUT...lock your car, don't leave anything in sight (radar, cell, packages), park in an area where there's lot's of foot traffic, makes it harder for a sneak thief. You can also install a Lo-Jack tracking system for police to recover your car if stolen.

  3. You don't even have to pick the darned lock on a Club.  Just use a tire iron and a BIG s***w driver.  Near instant SNAP!!  The twelve key ONLY works on certain cars.  And most of them are older cars at that.  You really don't have much to worry about though.  Most smart car thieves would rather steal the car so as to get to a safer location for to get the stuff they see IN the car more than because they want the car or it's parts.

  4. The only way a car thief is going to get my car is if he has a tow truck. I install a hidden fuel pump switch on every vehicle that I own.

  5. The club is only really needed with cheaper cars with cheap locks.  Like Honda's/Toyota's/mazda most of the Japanese line.  With the club on the wheel they will pass your car by because its to much work.  Thieves can take a car with cheap locks almost just as easily as if they had the keys.

Since you have a much newer car the kind of thieves that might want your car would be of a much smarter breed.  No car is unstealable to a very good car thief..
